Song of the Day and Lyrics – Storm the Gates of Hell, Lead Us Home (Demon Hunter) From Storm the Gates of Hell Album

Storm the Gates of Hell lyrics (Demon Hunter)

Storm the Gates of Hell Demon Hunter logo. Metallic look. I was disappointed they didn't do more for the logo though for this album.

Storm the Gates of Hell and Lead Us Home from Demon Hunter, lyrics included below, are the titanic opening tracks from Demon Hunter’s crushing challenge to the realm of evil off their 5th full-length album (2007). The title track is a blistering, fast-paced song with punishing vocals that pound your eardrums from start to finish. That song then transitions into the incredibly heavy crushing intro to a slower, beautiful Heavenly ode called “Lead Us Home”.

The devastating one-two punch is one of Demon Hunter’s best and proof-positive to all metal fans, Christian or not, that Demon Hunter can melt your faceoff with righteous lyrics powerful enough to shatter a mountain in a single blow. Both songs are included below with lyrics, listen to them back-to-back for the full experience! Be sure to start playing Lead Us Home as soon as Storm the Gates starts to end. Be careful of the volume on Storm the Gates which starts off extremely loud, you’ll then want to turn up the volume on Lead Us Home as the video is much quieter compared to Storm the Gates, and that intro is one of the coolest of all time, so you’ll want it as loud as can be!

Storm the Gates of Hell Lyrics from Demon Hunter (Storm the Gates of Hell Album):

Broken teeth, a shattered jaw
Ten to one, BEHOLD MY GOD
Wicked sons of Heaven’s loss
Raise your own INVERTED CROSS . . .
Kings of earth, iron fist
Serve the sacred you dismissed!
Stand before your final day
Choke on every LINE YOU PRAY

Raise your glass to death
Not one second left…

Wake the lifeless, die to fight this
Stand beside me, STORM THE GATES OF HELL
Wake the lifeless, die to fight this
Stand beside me, STORM THE GATES OF HELL
STORM THE GATES OF HELL!

Coward’s heart, a serpent’s tongue
Stand to face what you’ve outrun
FEAR OF DEATH, FEAR OF PAIN
Bound to all you took in vain
No more lies, no regrets
SEVER TIES and hollow debt
OPEN EYES, live to learn
Or watch your BLESSED TEMPLE BURN!

Raise your glass to death
Not one second left…

Wake the lifeless, die to fight this
Stand beside me, STORM THE GATES OF HELL
Wake the lifeless, die to fight this
Stand beside me, STORM THE GATES OF HELL
STORM THE GATES OF HELL!

HELL HATH NO FURY AT ALL!

Lead Us Home Lyrics from Demon Hunter (Storm the Gates of Hell Album):

ONE MORE DAY
This time I’ll bite the bullet . . .
LET ME STAY
And set this life ablaze

Give myself to compromise
And let the hammer FALL . . .
From blackened eyes to broken ties
I’ve bled to know them ALL
Driven to the brink of death
I heed deceptions CALL
Through bitter tears, forgotten years
I’ve come to sever ALL

Lead us home . . .
Lead us home . . .
Our tired hearts are failing now, from the inside out
Lead us home

ONE MORE TIME
This day I kill the witness . . .
Take back what’s mine
And give disgrace a NAME!

Give myself to compromise
And let the hammer FALL . . .
From blackened eyes to broken ties
I’ve bled to know them ALL
Driven to the brink of death
I heed deceptions CALL
Through bitter tears, forgotten years
I’ve come to sever ALL

Lead us home . . .
Lead us home . . .
Our tired hearts are failing now, from the inside out
Lead us home

BLESSED HANDS will tear me off
And BREAK ME at the wrist . . .
Drag me back to SOLID GROUND
SLAY THE FATE I KISS!
OH!

Lead us home . . .
Lead us home . . .
Our tired hearts are failing now, from the inside out
Lead us HOME

Behind the Song – Storm the Gates of Hell (By Ryan Clark, lead vocalist of Demon Hunter and writer of all their material)
“The lyrics for this song came to me when I was reading the Psalms. It talked about the “kings of the earth” and worldly rulers. My intention is to warn these people, in our day and age, to beware of the almighty power of God. It also acts as a call for everyone who listens, to lay down their worldly cares, take up their swords, and fight with us against the evil and Godless powers of this world. To “storm the gates of Hell,” means to boldly stand in the face of adversity, and strike back against Satan’s deceitful ways.”
“Arise, O Lord! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.” – Psalms 3:7 – Ryan Clark, Demon Hunter

Behind the Song – Lead Us Home

“This song is simply about the constant struggle in this life to make the right decisions. In the song I ask the Lord for “one more day” to make things right. I think that seems to be a common thought amongst Christians, that if we just had more time on this earth, we could learn to be better followers of Christ. And although that may be the case for some, we will always face temptation, sadness, depression and pain in this life. And in light of that fact, my plea in this song is simply for God to lead us home, to him. Time and time again, day after day. It’s a song of surrender, that Christ would show us his face in our times of failure or pain.”
“I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.” -Proverbs 4:11 – Ryan Clark, Demon Hunter

Song of the Day and Lyrics – Feel As Though You Could (Demon Hunter) From World Is A Thorn

Feel As Though You Could Artwork

Feel As Though You Could From The World Is A Thorn, Demon Hunter artwork

Feel As Though You Could is arguably my favorite track from The World Is A Thorn, Demon Hunter’s previous album. However due to the hard-to-remember name of the song, it’s a track that is easily forgotten and I think it’s one of their lesser known songs.

However it has some of the best lyrics on the entire album in my humble opinion, and is one of the heaviest songs on the album as well (along with Tie This Around Your Neck).

Unfortunately I don’t like the bridge of this song nor the ending. The song is strongest during the first two verses, both of which are amazing. Enjoy!

Feel As Though You Could Lyrics from Demon Hunter (The World Is A Thorn):

REBELLION!!!!!!!!!
Oh cheap thrills and vacant youth
Carry out your own will
Shovel deep and bury truth

Social stain
PUNK WRECK
Mother’s own . . .
DEFECT
Sing that song you know so well
SING IT ONE FOOT IN HELL

EYES
WIDE
BLACK

TURN
YOUR
BACK!!!!!!!

Oh how the foolish will see . . . . . . . . .
How every man he does bleed . . . . . .

THE VULTURES
CIRCLE
HALO OF THE DEAD
Another
VICIOUS
CYCLE
SWALLOW WHAT YOUR FED

And now
THE VULTURES
CIRCLE
HALO OF THE DEAD
Another
VICIOUS
CYCLE
Be true to your DISSENT

Somehow . . . Feel . . .
Feels though . . .
You could . . .
Somehow . . .
In all your petty suffering (suffering)
BURN THIS DOWN

REJECTION!!!!!!!
Of weak trends and fake hate
This is what you’re fighting for?
Some fools MISTAKE

I WILL DEVOUR YOU
I’LL OVERPOWER YOU
Rise from the ashes
Screaming ETERNITY

THE VULTURES
CIRCLE
HALO OF THE DEAD
Another
VICIOUS
CYCLE
SWALLOW WHAT YOUR FED

And now
THE VULTURES
CIRCLE
HALO OF THE DEAD
Another
VICIOUS
CYCLE
Be true to your DISSENT

Somehow . . . Feel
Feels though . . .
You could . . .
Somehow . . .
In all your petty suffering (suffering)

GO!!!!!!

OHHHHHHHHHHH
Ignite (ignite)
Upon (upon)
These words (these words)
And breathe defeat

Your shallow deeds
Make hell
FOR
Wood and stone
Flesh and bone
THIS ALONE!!!!

Somehow . . . Feel . . .
FEELS THOUGH
You could . . .
Somehow . . .
In all your petty suffering (suffering)
BURN THIS DOWN

……BURNTHISDOWN…… *repeat*

Behind the Song – Feel As Though You Could (By Ryan Clark, lead vocalist of Demon Hunter and writer of all their material)

The heavy metal scene is a culture steeped in pointless, juvenile rebellion. In some extreme cases, some delusional metalheads have murdered and raped for what they see as a rebellious or “true metal” lifestyle. More specifically, there are a number of church burning occurrences that led me to write this song. I understand that these burnings were committed in an attempt to regain some supposed pagan landscape, however, I would also assume that the real goal is to destroy Christianity, and not just a building. With logic now introduced in the scenario, I offer the concept that you cannot physically burn down something existing in a spiritual realm, therefore attempts at destroying something that dwells within our souls are futile.

“But the temple he had spoken of was his body.” – John 2:21

Lead vocalist Ryan Clark in the 4th iTunes Album Podcast Episode: “The lyrics of the song Feel As Though You Could are specifically about youthful rebellion, more particularly in the metal scene itself. I think that alot of fans take the subversive nature of metal a little bit too far and bring it into their own lives. And the way that manifests itself alot of the time is through sometimes violent rebellion or just mindless rebellion. This song to me just points out those aspects of the scene that are immature and disrespectful. These things are a common byproduct in the metal scene. I think people like to be subversive for the sake of being subversive, but to me it’s just a sign of immaturity.” – Ryan Clark, Demon Hunter

Song of the Day and Lyrics – The Wind (Demon Hunter). Single from Happy Christmas 5 Via Tooth & Nail Records

The Wind by Demon Hunter

Fanmade artwork for Demon Hunter's THE WIND single off of Tooth & Nail's "Happy Christmas Volume 5" album from December 2011

The Wind from Demon Hunter, lyrics included below, is Demon Hunter’s first Christmas song Single, released as part of Tooth & Nail’s “Happy Christmas Volume 5″ annual compilation, made up of songs from the entire Tooth & Nail/Solid State family. Other artists who appeared on the album included Hawk Nelson, Thousand Foot Krutch, August Burns Red, Bon Voyage, Queens Club, FM Static, Surrogate, Neon Horse, Family Force 5, Sent By Ravens, Ivoryline, Emery and Copeland. Quite the lineup! The album was released at the tail-end of 2011 last year, to celebrate Christmas.

Demon Hunter jumped on the bandwagon and offered up a really unique song called, quite simply, “The Wind”. Given that this song is a single and was not released on any previous album, many fans have never heard the song. The song could be classified as rock, and is a slow piece that lacks in any growling. However Ryan Clark’s deep voice shines on this piece and you’ll likely be very satisfied. I love the church bells at the beginning. Be sure to have the volume low at the start because the instrumental in the opening is hard to hear, so you’ll be tempted to turn it up, but then it kicks in with a really loud opening vocal compared to the quiet that comes before it.

The Wind Lyrics:

These city lights illuminate your BREATH…
As you tell of all the ways that you feel DEAD

December left you COLD and ALONE
I’M SORRY but I have enough to fear on my OWN…..

Dying to care…
I’m searching for some SOLACE in this AIR…

But THE WIND
It cuts to my bone
THE WIND
This hollow breath of COLD

The snowflakes fall like ASHES into DIRT
Like every hope that ROSE and dissolved into HURT…

Dying to care
I’m searching for some SOLACE in this AIR…

But THE WIND
It cuts to my bone
THE WIND
This hollow breath of COLD
THE WIND
It cuts to my bone
THE WIND

In WINTER’S ARMS I feel AT HOME

And I won’t LET GO

But I will take you with ME
Right to THE END

But the wind
It cuts to my bone
The wind
This hollow breath of cold….
THE WIND
It cuts to my BONE
THE WIND
This hollow breath of cold….
THE WIND
It cuts to my BONE
THE WIND
In WINTER’S ARMS I feel at HOME

OH I FEEL AT HOME

Song Video of the Day: Get Well by Icon For Hire

Icon For Hire Awesome Photo

Icon for Hire and their girl singer, with her awesome pink/purple hair! :D

Icon For Hire is a girl-fronted band formed in 2007 and signed to Tooth & Nail Records! If you like Flyleaf or Paramore, then you’re sure to enjoy the heavy rock sound and female-powered vocals of this new group.

The following music video is for their song “Get Well” off of their debut album, “Scripted”.

The music video is quite interesting and really well shot, with cool scenes of the lead singer trapped in a room and slow-motion effects that really give it a cinematic quality. You also gotta love the passion that the lead singer, named Ariel, brings to the song. The four-piece also features Shawn Jump on Guitar, Josh Kincheloe on Bass and Adam Kronshagen on Drums. All of them coalesce to bring the house down! I also gotta love those feet-shots… Damn this clean-feet girl foot fetish of mine! :P

Ahem.

Lyrics for Get Well by Icon For Hire:

We throw tantrums like parties
We’re not happy ’til everyone knows we’re sick…
And that’s just how we like it
We’ve hurt bad enough
Right? We’ve earned it

Don’t tell the others but it’s all getting old
I mean, how many more times must our stories be told?
And being lonely’s only fun in a group…
It sorta loses it’s charm when it’s true

I meant it when I said
“I wanna get well, I wanna get well”
Are the rest of you so content?
Then stay where you are, but it hurts like HELP
And I’m sure it’s fun at first…
Test your pulse and check your vitals
If it’s only a game, you lost me
I quit it with the suicidal recital

So now you know all my secrets…
I want out
I know I don’t need THIS
Can you find me friends that don’t rank me on what I’ve been through?
The more our battle scars
The more attention it gets YOU

Don’t tell the others but it’s all getting old
I mean, how many more times must our stories be told?
And being lonely’s only fun in a group…
It sorta loses it’s charm when it’s true

I meant it when I said
“I wanna get well, I wanna get well”
Are the rest of you so content?
Then stay where you are, but it hurts like HELP
And I’m sure it’s fun at first…
Test your pulse and check your vitals
If it’s only a game, you lost me
I quit it with the suicidal recital

Yeah, we should’ve known it would end this way…
What did you expect, pretend it all the way?
And all we got left is a sorry pile of hearts…
I’m getting out, gonna write myself a new start

C’mon, dry your eyes, meet me on the other side
Run as fast as you can and we’ll make it out alive
We know better now, we don’t have to it live like this
Go tell ‘em all we don’t have to live like THIS!

(I meant it when I said, “I wanna get well”…)

I meant it when I said
“I wanna get well, I wanna get well”
Are the rest of you so content?
Then stay where you are, but it hurts like HELP
And I’m sure it’s fun at first
Test your pulse and check your vitals
If it’s only a game, you lost me
I quit it with the suicidal recital

If it’s only a game, you lost me
I quit it with the suicidal recital

Icon For Hire Band Photo

Icon For Hire and the super hot lead singer Ariel and her amazing hair! Awesome outfit too. :P

Icon For Hire have certainly got my attention! I really need to check out this album. It’s now on my wishlist! Been quite a while since I listened to a female-fronted band of this style. I’m a big Flyleaf fan. But I’m itching for something new!

Icon For Hire is currently touring with Emery on the “Emery and Friends” tour; which also features fellow labelmates Sent By Ravens and I Am Empire. That tour is wrapping up soon and will end on March 25th. Then the band is going on a HUGE tour with Red, P.O.D. and Brian “Head” Welch (formerly of Korn)! Talk about an amazing lineup! I’d give anything to see that show!

Song of the Day and Lyrics – The Science of Lies (Demon Hunter) from The Triptych

The Science of Lies from Demon Hunter, lyrics included below, from their The Triptych album is a really cool song that is another lesser-known tune. The song is one of my favorites on the album because it is very aggressive. In some ways it’s similar to the also lesser-known and underappreciated Triptych track called “Relentless Intolerance”.

If you enjoy this article and song, please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

I love almost song on The Triptych though, and this one is no exception! Enjoy!

BOW DOWN
Before the god of CASH
The philosophy of modern man is sinking FAST
No foundation for the frame by which you set your MIND
Just a legacy of fiction for the feeble to FIND
Desperation breeding faith unto a pitiful LIE…
“Give us your money and we’ll open up your gullible EYE”

No redemption
Not a reason
But a symbol of WHY
This digression of surrender is the SCIENCE OF LIES
No redemption
Not a reason
But a symbol of WHY
This digression of surrender is the SCIENCE…
OF LIES

BELIEVE
The sacred blasphemy
THEY FEED
That hollow voice inside your head…
RECEIVE
The fleeting fallacy
THEY BREATHE
Trace every step from where you were led…
Look back and tell yourself what they said
NOW FLEE

AND NOW
You feel it pulling DOWN
How can you buy into a faith that hasn’t permanent GROUND?
Give me blood-soacked, sacrificial WORTH
Not the artificial product of a fraudulent BIRTH
Give me selfless, consecrated REPRISE
Not a worthless contribution to the SCIENCE OF LIES
Blood-soacked, sacrificial WORTH
Not the artificial product of a fraudulent BIRTH
Give me selfless, consecrated REPRISE
Not a worthless contribution to the SCIENCE…
OF LIES

BELIEVE
The sacred blasphemy
THEY FEED
That hollow voice inside your head…
RECEIVE
The fleeting fallacy
THEY BREATHE
Trace every step from where you were led…
Look back and tell yourself what they said
NOW FLEE

FEEL IT PULLING…
DOWN

BELIEVE
The sacred blasphemy
THEY FEED
That hollow voice inside your head…
RECEIVE
The fleeting fallacy
THEY BREATHE
Trace every step from where you were led…
Look back and tell yourself what they said
NOW FLEE!!!

Behind the Song – The Science of Lies (By Ryan Clark, lead vocalist of Demon Hunter and writer of all their material)
“‘The Science Of Lies’” is about the popularization of Scientology in today’s society. I did some research on Scientology and found it to be one of the most absurd “religions” I’ve ever heard of. It’s a cult based around mental health and what seems to be some sort of science fiction- involving aliens and other plants. Scientology’s founder, L. Ron Hubbard actually used to write science fiction novels for a living before he decided to bring his stories to life in a cult. L. Ron Hubbard, who claimed to be a nuclear physicist (which is untrue), apparently realized the “truths” of Scientology on an operating table after sustaining injuries in the war. These “truths” include the idea that aliens, called Thetans, were sent here on a mother ship from an overpopulated galaxy named Xenu 75 million years ago. These Thetans we dropped here on earth and killed with hydrogen bombs. Now their spirits infest our human bodies and it’s our task to remind them of their tragic death, in order to kill them and thus, rid ourselves of these alien spirits that haunt us. The kicker is that, as a part of The Church of Scientology, you need to pay exuberant amounts of money to find out the truths of the “religion,” which is why the more popular members are Hollywood’s elite. In short, this song is about the ridiculousness of this cult and how tragic it is that anyone would believe in it.- You must not spread a false report. Do not join the wicked to be a malicious witness. – Exodus 23:1″ – Ryan Clark, Demon Hunter

Song Video of the Day: Eivor – Hounds of Love

Eivor Hounds of Love

Hounds of Love Kate Bush cover by Eivor. Absolutely beautiful.

Hounds Of Love by Eivør is a song that will blow your socks off if you are not familiar with it! Before you watch this music video though, be sure to check out Eivor – Trollabundin which will redefine your very concept of music and depth in simplicity!

If you enjoy this article and song please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

Hounds of Love is a completely different beast from Trollabundin, but it is just as beautiful and mesmerizing. Eivor also shows a grace and power behind her singing that is really unparalleled. It really proves how great she is IMHO.

The song is a cover of a Kate Bush song, of which I am not familiar. I don’t even know who Kate Bush is…. I’ve yet to check out the original, but whether you’ve heard it or not, you are likely to be impressed by Eivor’s take on it. One commenter on youtube pointed out how much of a tragedy it is that Eivor isn’t an award-winner like Adele. I couldn’t agree more!

Enjoy. :) And leave a comment letting me know what you think!

Song of the Day and Lyrics – The Gauntlet (Demon Hunter) from Self-Titled

The original Demon Hunter (Band Pic, Self-titled Debut Album)

Demon Hunter's self-titled debut album band pic from the back cover.

The Gauntlet by Demon Hunter, lyrics included below, from their Self-titled debut album (2002) is probably one of their most overlooked and underappreciated songs ever. The piece is REALLY unique for the band, as there is nothing else they’ve recorded that is quite like it.

If you enjoy this article and song please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

The song is played extremely slow, and is a “ballad” (what the band calls their “slow” songs), but has a kind of menacing quality to it that is very interesting indeed. A sense of depression pervades from beginning to end. Overall it is one of my favorite Demon Hunter tracks, and is one of their longest songs, clocking in at nearly seven minutes. I love the drums at the end, by far my favorite part of the song.

The Gauntlet Lyrics:

I hold you in…
Like a DEEP BREATH….
Feel you like… the last beautiful…TOUCH…
Before a final REST
I know I’ll see you forever…
I want it painted BLACK AND RED

It’s so beautiful to me…
It is everything I see…..
It’s so beautiful to me…
But it’s nothing that I NEED

And I can’t taste… anything less….
Every time I’m forced DOWN

To be with yourself…
Take all the blood you WANT
But not me….from here…..

It’s so beautiful to me…
It is everything I see…..
It’s so beautiful to me…
But it’s nothing that I NEED

Not a HAND
not a FINGER….

This is my HOME
I’m dying HERE

I hide in the CORNER….

That look on your FACE…
I’m ACCUSTOMED TO IT……….

Behind the Song – The Gauntlet (By Ryan Clark, lead vocalist of Demon Hunter and writer of all their material)
“This song is about holding onto something despite the harmful effects it may have on your life. It paints a picture of growing accustomed to something to the degree that it manifests itself into an action of second nature. Some things that we do consistently, we become numb to. This song speaks about realizing the destructive power of these things, and taking action to become effected by them once again.” – Ryan Clark, Demon Hunter

Song Video of the Day: Eivor – Trollabundin

Eivor Trollabundin Art

Artwork for Eivor's amazing Trollabundin song

Eivør – Trøllabundin is an amazing musical piece that will test your very perceptions of what music is.

If you enjoy this article and song, please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

I figured it was about time I start to share random videos I come across on youtube that I think are interesting. In this case it is a song as well, so in such circumstances I will label these posts as “Song Video”. I suppose I should just say “Music Video”, but they aren’t all technically music videos per say.

As stated, this song by the beautiful, unique, and wholly captivating artist “Eivør”, will challenge everything you think you know about great music, and proves without a shadow of a doubt that less can indeed be more. The simplicity and yet inherent complexity of this performance and musical piece is absolutely spellbinding, and it is unlike anything you have seen, or heard, before.

Unless perhaps you hail from the Faroe Islands (in between Scotland and Iceland), where Eivor is from. She is of Faroese descent, obviously the native peoples of that island. This is all so foreign to me that I will not attempt to explain anymore, but if you look her up on wikipedia you can learn more on your own.

Either way, she is completely 100% new to me. And suffice it to say that I was “blown away”. In fact, that is a vast and incredible understatement! The intensity and passion of her performance in this song is simply second-to-none. ENJOY!

Song of the Day and Lyrics – No Reason To Exist (Demon Hunter) from Storm the Gates of Hell

Does God Exist?

"With every waking second you front, another real-life loses ground. Ten thousand arms outstretched and you have the nerve to strike them all?"

No Reason To Exist from Demon Hunter, lyrics included below, from their Storm the Gates of Hell album is one of those lesser-known tracks, as it was only available to those who ordered a special edition of the album, but like the album on the whole, it is excellent.

If you enjoy this article and song, please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

A ton of Demon Hunter’s songs contain lyrics with a line that remains one of my favorite “quotes” of all time. That’s because almost all of their songs contain a very deep message and a very deep Christian meaning that points the listener towards Christ. In this song, my favorite quote is this line, “Don’t tell me it’s not your choice, you sold a blessed future for some noise.”

Like many of their songs, you’ll also find that line tattooed on various fans of the band. But you can’t argue with a line like that, as it is so profound.

No Reason To Exist Lyrics:

Lost
When the storm hits, you will leave this
Awake
Time will pass through, and break you

BROKEN, or so you say
Nobody bought that fable anyway
So calloused, and so naïve
To wear a heart of fiction on your sleeve

Bury every sign of life in filth and hollow trend
And push against progression on the path of logic’s end
Like tears flowing upward

Lost
An aimless soul
When the storm hits, you will leave this
Awake
To wasted days
Time will pass through, and break you

This wreckage, you’ll never be
If you were raised in Hell you’d own the sea
DON’T TELL ME, it’s not your choice
You sold a blessed future for some noise

Bury every sign of life in filth and hollow trend
And push against progression on the path of logic’s end
Like tears flowing upward

Lost
An aimless soul
When the storm hits, you will leave this
Awake
To wasted days
Time will pass through, and break you

With every waking second you front, another real life loses ground
Ten thousand arms outstretched and you have the nerve to strike them all?
No reason to coexist?
NO REASON TO EXIST!

Behind the Song – No Reason To Exist (By Ryan Clark, lead vocalist of Demon Hunter and writer of all their material)
“This song is about irresponsible living, specifically amongst young people. I’ve noticed a trend, particularly up here in the Northwest, of people in their late teens and 20’s that have rebelled against the lifestyles of their parents and have adopted a life of street living and poor work ethic. To someone that doesn’t know any better, you’d think by looking at these kids that they’ve fell on hard times and that they must’ve been abandoned at some point. What I have come to understand is that they have willingly abandoned what they had, in exchange for a trendy lifestyle of recklessness. To pretend that your life is in dire straits is an insult to people that actually have fell on hard times. I cannot find fault in someone who chooses to live a simple life devoid of monetary focus, however, I think in most of these cases, these kids are wasting their lives by merely floating through, contributing nothing to society. They’ve become so disgusted with successful living that they’ve made a complete 180 into very careless territory. They are able bodied, but take pride in doing nothing. I’m not implying that successful living is Christian living at all. I am however saying that to take for granted what God has blessed you with is foolish. To take a vow of poverty in the name of the Lord can be commendable, but the motives behind this scene I’m speaking of are strictly based on fad.”

“And you and the Levites and the aliens among you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household.” -Deuteronomy 26: 11 – Ryan Clark, Demon Hunter

Song of the Day and Lyrics – Tie This Around Your Neck (Demon Hunter) from World Is A Thorn

Tie This Around Your Neck

Demon Hunter picture (Tie This Around Your Neck) from The World Is A Thorn

Tie This Around Your Neck from Demon Hunter, lyrics included below, from their The World Is A Thorn album is one of my favorite tracks of all time from my favorite Christian metal band!

If you enjoy this article and song, please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

It is by far, arguably, the heaviest song on Demon Hunter’s 5th album, The World Is A Thorn, and has some really cool lyrics. Enjoy!

This is the age of the dead
The generation of pagan and self-led

YOU CAN FEEL the bones shatter beneath your feet
The blood of lust staining our teeth

We feed on pain (PAIN!)
Disorder (DISORDER!)
Delusion (DELUSION!) The filth of the modern plague

And in this reign of Godlessness
The heathens will say . . . .

Tie this around your neck
TIE THIS AROUND YOUR NECK
Tie this around your neck
TIE THIS AROUND YOUR NECK
fool!

Save your breath my son . . .
Just carry on . . . Home . . .
Time . . .
Will prey on you . . .
And take you through . . . Hell

I’ve heard every empty line
Every curse, every word that you redefine

I will turn my BACK ON THE COMING STORM
Won’t lie in the grave
I will be reborn
THEY SAY!

Tie this around your neck
TIE THIS AROUND YOUR NECK
Tie this around your neck
TIE THIS AROUND YOUR NECK
FOOL!

Save your breath my son . . .
Just carry on . . . Home . . . .
Time . . .
Will prey on you . . .
And take you through . . . Hell

Confusion reigns
Pride of the hopeless herd
Blind to the Will
Blind to the Word
They will drown in the rule of man
Helpless
and ALONE

Save your breath my son . . .
Just carry on . . . Home . . . .
Time . . .
Will prey on you . . .
And take you through . . . Hell

THEY SAY
Tie this around your neck
Tie this around your neck
FOOL
Tie this around your neck

TIE THIS AROUND YOUR NECK
FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOOL

Behind the Song – I Play Dead (By Ryan Clark, lead vocalist of Demon Hunter and writer of all their material)

“The world will tell you to lead yourself. This song is the antithesis of that ideal. We [Demon Hunter] believe that we [humanity] are a flawed people, and that man, given unto his own will, will fail. Therefore, using our flesh as a compass in life is a path that leads only to destruction. The burden of relying only on yourself is like a weight around your neck, and when the people and forces of the world encourage us to live this way, we tell them to ‘save their breath’”

“The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths.” – Psalm 107:42
