Pre-Order Xenoblade Chronicles At GameStop And Get Free Art Book. Release Date is April 6, 2012 for Wii

Xenoblade Chronicles, one of the biggest Wii games of all time, will be released on April 6, 2012! If you have yet to pre-order the game, please do so! The game is being sold exclusively at GameStop, as they are serving as a publisher for the game.

Pre-order Xenoblade Chronicles at GameStop and you’ll net yourself an exclusive artbook for the title, while pre-ordering XenoBlade Chronicles at the Official Nintendo Online Store will net you a black Classic Controller Pro included with the game if you pay $15 extra (for a total price of $65).

So what is Xenoblade Chronicles? The game is an epic RPG developed by Nintendo 2nd party developer Monolith Soft, the same company behind the Xenosaga series and GameCube RPG series Baten Kaitos, among others. Originally called “Monado: Beginning of the World”, it was later renamed “Xenoblade Chronicles” in January 2010 to honour Tetsuya Takahashi, “who poured his soul into making this and who has been working on the Xeno series”. While the game is named in honor of the Xeno series (Xenogears and Xenosaga) it is not actually related to those games, just titled after them.

Here’s the Xenoblade Chronicles Epic RPG trailer.

The pedigree for Xenoblade Chronicles could not be higher, and the game has been highly regarded as one of the most beautiful and epic games ever released for Wii. And one of the best.

Originally Xenoblade Chronicles was not going to be released in the United States. In fact the game was released in Japan on June 10th of 2010. It was then released in Europe on August 19th, 2011 and Australia on September 1st. Nintendo of America made it’s intention of NOT bringing Xenoblade Chronicles over to the American market known. That sparked a firestorm from RPG fans who felt that they were missing out on some of the best Wii games ever released; not only Xenoblade Chronicles but also other critically acclaimed Wii RPGs such as “The Last Story” from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi of developer Mistwalker and “Pandora’s Tower”, another Wii-exclusive Japanese RPG. Both The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower were picked up by Nintendo of Europe, and were localized and released across the pond.

Here’s an extensive look at gameplay for XenoBlade Chronicles by youtuber GhostRobo.

Outraged fans decided to do something about the absence of these titles and started a movement called “Operation Rainfall“, in which they set out to systematically support the games in all ways possible and to let their desire to see the Wii trio of RPGs released in America known. They did this by setting up writing campaigns to Nintendo of America, creating a website dedicated to the movement, popularizing the game on forums and message boards, adding the Amazon-entry for “Monado: Beginning of the World” to their wishlists, pre-ordering Monado on Amazon (which caused the game to reach #1 in the Wii Games section), promoting the game on Facebook and Twitter, and letting Nintendo of America know of their desire to see the trio of RPGs released in America via phone calls, letters, petitions and the like. Eventually Nintendo took notice… and on December 2nd, 2011, they posted on the official Nintendo of America Facebook that Xenoblade Chronicles would be released in America on April 6th, 2012! Operation Rainfall had seen their first victory!

The Last Story Artwork

Beautiful artwork for The Last Story Wii RPG

The fact that Nintendo posted the release announcement on Facebook is said to be a sign to Operation Rainfall (who was very active on Facebook) that they had an impact on Nintendo; although whether or not it was enough in and of itself to convince Nintendo to release the game is another matter entirely. Nintendo has denied that Operation Rainfall was the sole reason; but the Wii would’ve had a huge absence of big-name releases had Nintendo not acted on bringing these games over. In many ways, it’s hard to imagine how Nintendo could oppose their American release, especially considering that the European’s had already localized the games into English and recorded new English voiceovers.

Pandora's Tower Artwork

Awesome, beautiful artwork for Pandora's Tower, the acclaimed Wii RPG and last member of Operation Rainfall.

Operation Rainfall then had another huge win when Nintendo announced that they would be releasing The Last Story stateside on June 19th, 2012 in partnership with Xseed Games! Operation Rainfall has now started a full-blown website that will concentrate on getting Pandora’s Tower released in America (the last game of the trio that has yet to receive an announcement regarding an American release) and then focus their sights on other niche titles that they desire to see released in America and elsewhere. Through A Virgin’s Eyes – Kid Icarus: Uprising Let’s Play

Pit Shoots the Sky in Kid Icarus: Uprising

Through A Virgin's Eyes - Kid Icarus: Uprising

Let’s Play Kid Icarus: Uprising in the first installment of my “Through A Virgin’s Eyes” series! For my initial installment, Nintendo’s 3DS masterpiece, Kid Icarus: Uprising, is in the spotlight!

Kid Icarus: Uprising is Nintendo’s 2012 revival of a legendary 8bit masterpiece originally released in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System; a game developed by Metroid-creator Gunpei Yokoi!

The game used many of the same elements as Metroid, but Kid Icarus was never nearly as popular as the first great female videogame character Samus Aran’s Metroid adventures. Regardless through Kid Icarus’ and it’s main character, the angel Pit, gained it’s own fan-following and the series got a sequel to the NES game for the Game Boy in 1991 with Kid Icarus: Of Myth and Monsters.

That game built on the original NES titles action, but fans were disappointed when Pit fell off the face of the earth, never to be seen again! He was finally revived by Nintendo with Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, a fighting game that pit (pun non intended) many of Nintendo’s most-popular characters against each other!

Unboxing Kid Icarus: Uprising and Full Manual for Nintendo 3DS

Pit AR Card (Kid Icarus: Uprising)

Six AR Cards included with Kid Icarus: Uprising, here is my Pit card.

My Kid Icarus: Uprising Unboxing video gives you an indepth look at what you can expect when you get the game in your hands.

Hopefully you pre-ordered Kid Icarus: Uprising, if so you also got your grubby little mitts on 3D Classics: Kid Icarus, a pre-order incentive that gives a new stereoscopic 3D coat of paint to the original NES game.

I’ve yet to dive into Kid Icarus: Uprising, but I will do so just after I post this article! In the video I even show off the entire instruction book that is included with Kid Icarus: Uprising. In addition to the full manual, you get to see the six AR Cards that were included with my copy of the game, and a look at the 3DS Stand that is included in the box, as well as the brochures it comes with (outside of the Club Nintendo code, of course. Which btw, the survey to complete your registration of Club Nintendo currently isn’t working for me and many others. Hopefully Nintendo gets it fixed pronto and gives those who pre-ordered the game their extra 10 Coins…).

Kid Icarus: Uprising OUT NOW! Tournament Results and Pictures From New York City

Pit from Kid Icarus: Uprising, Out Now for 3DS!

Buy Kid Icarus: Uprising out now for 3DS, and support this amazing game by Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai!

Hey guys, TODAY IS THE DAY! Kid Icarus: Uprising is OUT NOW for Nintendo 3DS!

Finally, after more than 20 years, Kid Icarus returns on the scene for an epic adventure! Most modern gamers will recognize Pit, the Angelic hero of Kid Icarus, from the Super Smash Bros. series where Nintendo originally revived the character after many requests that Pit be revived by the gaming press (like gaming magazine EGM) and retro Nintendo fans alike.

But this is the first time that the Kid Icarus series has been fully revived as a AAA, high-quality Nintendo title that reimagines the world and the characters in an intense single and multiplayer action shooter and creates what is being hailed as one of the best, most unique games that the 3DS has to offer!

Here is the launch trailer for Kid Icarus: Uprising!

Did you pick the game up?

I pre-ordered it at the last minute by trading in three previous 3DS titles at GameStop (Tetris: Axis, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Mario Kart 7) to buy the game (since I’m broke, it was the only way), and in order to help improve pre-order sales of the title as well as snag the exclusive 3D Classics: Kid Icarus pre-order bonus!

3D Classics: Kid Icarus is a free game only available to those who pre-ordered Kid Icarus: Uprising, which remasters the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System classic with full glasses-free stereoscopic 3D graphics! The 2D Side-scroller has never looked so good, and I can’t wait to jump in and finally beat the retro favorite. Since I never completed the NES version…. In fact I never got very far at all. FOR SHAME!

Look forward to much more coverage on Kid Icarus: Uprising as I tear into the main adventure and multiplayer, and look forward to my review of the game soon. Keep your eyes on Watch Us Play Games in the days ahead for much more, such as an unboxing video that’ll be up in a manner of minutes.

Another really cool promotion for Kid Icarus: Uprising was a tournament held today, on launch day, in New York City!

Here is a picture of the grand prize winner, Sam Buzby of Nesconset, NY, with his INCREDIBLY SWEET Kid Icarus: Uprising Pit trophy! Man I’d pay a high price to have that baby! He’s flanked by runners up Jay Demry of Oakland, CA (left) and Jacob Effertz of Orlando, FL (right) who got second and third place in the tournament at GameStop. The New York event concludes a nationwide tournament that also stopped in San Francisco, Orlando, Fla., and Los Angeles.

Oh Sleeper Stand Your Ground iPhone Game Released!

Stand Your Ground App titlescreen and logo

Oh Sleeper's videogame Stand Your Ground for the App Store by developer EMI Records Limited.

Oh Sleeper, the titanic Christian metal band from Solid State Records, has released a videogame based on their hit album “Children of Fire”! That’s right, A VIDEOGAME. Compelete with 8bit renditions of 10 Children of Fire songs!

Stand Your Ground is now purchasable via the App Store for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad for the measly cost of $3 bucks!

“Stand Your Ground” is the first time Solid State has entered this new level of promotion, and hopefully creating videogames based on awesome albums will be the wave of the future! Children of Fire, the album, was released by Oh Sleeper on September 6, 2011 to rave reviews; many calling it the best Oh Sleeper album to date and one of the best metal albums of last year; with critics hailing that Children of Fire has elevated Oh Sleeper to the level of bands like UnderOath, August Burns Red, The Chariot and As I Lay Dying.

Here is the official trailer for Stand Your Ground! So far the game has garnered excellent reviews, with a five star rating and over 50 people giving it the highest rating on the App Store of Five Stars!

Children of Fire received rave reviews, garnering a 9.5 out of 10 from Ultimate Guitar, 4 out of 5 by Sputnik Music, 86% out of 100 from Absolute Punk, 5 Stars out of 5 by The New Review (with a female giving her take on the album), 4.5 Stars out of 5 (and 5 out of 5 from a second opinion) from Jesus Freak Hideout, and secular outfit 5 out of 5 by Heavy Blog Is Heavy! So if you haven’t purchased “Children of Fire”, definitely go out there and pick the album up or purchase Children of Fire on Amazon or iTunes, etc.

The release of Stand Your Ground marks a new foray into the fusion of music and gaming with a full-fledged and immersive side-scrolling arcade-style videogame based on the storyline of the band’s latest album, ‘Children of Fire.’ An album that continues the concept from the bands previous album “Son of the Morning” and takes place in the aftermath of the war between God and Satan. Which gives us some very interesting intellectual nuggets to chew on.

In the game players will battle through multiple levels of enemy forces, in classic beat-em up style, collecting power-ups that allow you to improve your conquering abilities and summoning allies to help you in your quest. Solid State insists that Stand Your Ground is not just a “promotional gimmick”, but is a fully-fldedged title that will appeal to gamers on all levels, who are looking for a rich action experience. Stand Your Ground will offer replay value for those who’ve completed the main quest, and it contains a rich storyline and unique cast of characters that players will grow to love. Fans of games like Golden Axe, Swords & Soldiers, Patapon or Plants vs Zombies are ensured to enjoy “Stand Your Ground”.

Here’s the official synopsis for Stand Your Ground:

“Send me all of hell and I’ll face them. I’ll face them one on one thousand.”

Pry your eyes and learn to swing in this high-intensity side-scrolling arcade fighter from Oh, Sleeper. You were born to fight. Gage Ryan, the new breed of warrior, sent by the Great Councilor to lead an army of the far-from-perfect. The tattered and bruised. The few. The only ones who remained true. Following in the footsteps of heroes, they came from the pile, from the fires of the victims, from the dead and dying. Children of fire. They’ve waited so long for the rescue.Anchored by glory, you’re a war machine moving fast to reclaim this pale grey landscape of savage darkness. It’s time to tear down and rebuild this world. With blistering heat, the enemy bursts through. Show no mercy when the gates swing. Just past the gold-stained bones, you’ll find the new sign of proof. Stand and believe that it’s true. You hold the voice to change the sea, so pick yourself up and fight. No truce or compromise. Grip your axe and swing until the cowards bleed. This kingdom’s end is written. Take it one on one thousand. Ignite the world and let it burn.

BE THE HERO YOU’VE ALWAYS DENIED
* Fight through multiple levels of ferocious enemy forces and strongholds
* Lead your unwavering army of allegiant fighters into battle
* Call in Oh, Sleeper sonic artillery in the assault on your savage foes

ALL-NEW ARCADE VERSIONS OF OH, SLEEPER SONGS
* Game includes retro-style renditions of new tracks and old favorites

Here’s a trailer for the album “Children of Fire” by Oh Sleeper!

“We are so pumped to release this project to the masses,” explains OH, SLEEPER frontman Micah Kinard. “This adventure allows the gamer to step into the boots of a
warrior, pick up his axe, and traverse through the storyline of our latest album, Children of Fire. We are always looking for ways to allow our listeners to delve deeper into our concepts and we think ‘Stand Your Ground’ is the perfect way to do this. Plus, who doesn’t love video games!?”

Children of Fire itself has been a force to be reckoned with, debuting at #142 on the Billboard 200 and, more importantly, hitting #1 on the iTunes metal charts and maintaining that position in the Top 10 for months. The album got lots of praise from critics and fans alike, who called it their best work yet.

Oh, Sleeper has built a dedicated international fanbase on tours with Bring Me The Horizon, Underoath, Every Time I Die, Demon Hunter, Silverstein, Finch and more. Their “broken pentagram” symbol has become synonymous with breaking from societal norms, uplifting spirits and merging melody with might.

Here is the song “In the Wake of Pigs” off of Children of Fire by Oh Sleeper! It’s a song with a powerful message!

The Armored March EP announced the arrival of Oh, Sleeper upon the heavy music scene with intense raw power. Their debut full-length album, When I Am God, sold over 30,000 copies based on the strength of its songs, the group’s live show and the music video for “Vices Like Vipers,” which remains a staple of the group’s setlist.

The broken pentagram symbol made its first appearance on the bold cover for Son of the Morning, the Sophomore effort and second album from Oh Sleeper. The graphic quite literally subverts and “evil” symbol of the pentagram by breaking off the top points that represent the horns, in direct reference to the line “I’ll cut off your horns!” which Kinard screams while posturing as the voice of God against the devil in the title song “Son of the Morning vs The Finisher”. Many fans have connected with the purpose associated with this new symbol and have tattooed it upon their bodies in droves, and it’s become a new staple of the “White Metal” scene that represents positive, Christian metal.

Here is the 2012 Oh Sleeper tour schedule. They are currently on tour with The Devil Wears Prada, Every Time I Die and Letlive.

Assassin’s Creed III Goes Native American! Releases

Assassin's Creed III Steelbook

Pre-order Assassin's Creed 3 and take home this amazing steelbook case for only $5! Admire it while waiting until October, when you can finally stick the disc in!

Assassin’s Creed III and the series as a whole has made waves with the introduction of the third installment of this beloved franchise.

This time, players will step into the shoes of a Native American during the setting of the Colonial United States and the American Revolution that is setting the world ablaze all around them. You, of course, will play as an Assassin on the Indian side, and the game will serve to give a realistic and gritty look at the realities of the bloody Revolution and its effect on Native Americans. The tagline for the game is: “As a Native American assassin fights to protect his land and his people, he will ignite the flames of a young nation’s revolution.”

Assassin's Creed III Inside Steelcase

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

Assassin’s Creed 3 is scheduled for release on October 30th, 2012! It will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U. The game is already up for pre-order at various retailers, and those who pre-order can get their hands on a very slick steelbook case for the game that you get to take home with you then and there for slapping down your five dollar deposit for the game! It’s a very nice incentive and should send fans to stores in drove to get their pre-orders in. And given how exciting this entry in the modern classic series is, the vast majority will likely purchase the game upon launch. The $5 you deposit will also go towards the price of the $60 game, of course.

Here is the debut trailer for Assassin’s Creed III, GET PUMPED!

For the record, I’ve only played the original Assassin’s Creed, and didn’t even finish it; even though I highly enjoyed it. *sigh* I have so much catching up to do….

MyThoughts: Karen Santorum and Senator Scott Brown on Piers Morgan Tonight

Piers Morgan Tonight Promo Picture

Piers Morgan from his CNN show Piers Morgan Tonight

Piers Morgan Tonight has become my favorite TV show. As a Fox News diehard, I find Piers to be refreshing. He generally gives everyone a shot, on all sides of the issues, even though he (like anyone not on Fox News) trends heavily liberal in his own personal beliefs. While that is heaped on in most of his interviews with liberals, it doesn’t stop him from interviewing Conservatives and I praise him for covering a wide-range of personalities and never denying to interview anyone on any position. You gotta respect that.

If you enjoy this article please like it at the top of the website and share it on Facebook and Twitter, I’d greatly appreciate it! And leave a comment if you’re so inclined. :)

Of course, the Conservative side of an issue is always looked at as the side that “must be explained”, whether it is Catholics who oppose contraception, or Christians who oppose gay marriage or see homosexuality as a sin; the prism that the show is seen through always takes that tack, and that’s a bit annoying.

But what can you do? I think the show overall is much more dynamic and interesting than Larry King Live ever was, and unlike Larry King, Piers Morgan doesn’t put you to sleep. In many ways he is CNN’s Bill O’Reilly, except less immediately in-your-face. Which has its own appeals.

Today he had on two very interesting people (there was a third, but I won’t even dignify it with a mention) on the show, Karen Santorum, the wife of GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum, and the first interview she has given all by herself without her husband by her side; and Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown, the groundbreaking moderate Republican who won Ted Kennedy’s seat, giving the liberal and Democrat-dominating state it’s first Republican Senator since Edward Brooke in 1972!

The Loving Rick and Karen Santorum

The ideal loving couple.

First up is Karen. I like her, A LOT! I was very surprised by her interview, she came across as very attractive and appealing. She also looks so young when compared to other Candidates wives (even though I don’t think she is) and just had a spark about her that I really enjoyed. Like all of the Santorums, she speaks with such a strong sense of conviction. I don’t see how anyone can watch them and not be moved and utterly respect them for their deep-well of passion.

I thought she handled all the questions thrown at her great and had a good dynamic with Piers. Overall I think she made Rick Santorum even more attractive, and I think her interview will positively boost people’s opinions of Rick.

And then there is Scott Brown. Man, I was MIGHTILY impressed by this guy. His charm, his smarts, his ability to joke around in a manner that is completely off-the-cuff without being nasty or forced. I really felt after the interview that Scott Brown will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. And if he ever were to run as President, a question Piers actually posed to Scott, he would easily stand a strong chance of winning on charisma alone.

Scott Brown and his token look

Scott Brown is like Superman. I swear the guy is perfect. :P

Outside of that though, he also impressed me in the answers he gave and his insistence on the important issues. When asked by Piers Morgan about gay marriage (as a proponent of gay marriage, Piers ALWAYS has to force the issue, never ceasing to interject it into any and all discussions. Something that is increasingly turning me off to the show, I must add), Scott Brown did something no one else has done… simply said that issue is over and done with in his state (which has voted for it and legalized gay marraige) and it was time to move on. BRAVO. People are SICK TO DEATH of this issue. Those who support it, support it, and those who oppose it, oppose it. Both have perfectly legitimate and passionate reasons for doing so, and are strongly convicted on the issue. No one is being swayed one way or the other, and its interfering with the REALLY important matters currently at hand.

What impressed me the most about Scott Brown however, outside of his tremendous personality and good looks, was his adeptness to work across party lines and to pass major pieces of legislation that literally have made the country and his state a better place. It’s interesting when you put great Senators like Rick Santorum or Scott Brown against Obama, who is known for passing absolutely nothing of note and being, essentially, a “do-nothing” Senator. Had you ever heard of Barack Obama before he ran for President? You did?! (cue shock.) Let me rephrase, would you have ever heard of Barack Obama before 2008 if he wasn’t black? There. I may be in jest, but the fact that he was African American is the only reason anyone knows his name; unlike Rick Santorum and Scott Brown here, Barack Obama is like Ron Paul, they like to pretend they’ve done something of importance, when in reality they did absolutely nothing of note in all the time they’ve been in their respective positions (obviously a very short time for Senator Obama before he ran to be President Obama. A very long time for Congressman Paul) and not a single person had ever heard their names until they stepped into the spotlight to run for higher office. Significant Senators who are constantly doing their job and introducing, writing, co-sponsoring, voting and promoting legislation are the Senators who are actually getting work done and people KNOW their names. *end rant

In short, Scott Brown greatly surprised me, and he reminded me (and I think anyone who watched) about what a great Senator really looks like. He also emphasized the importance of putting petty bickering and opposite-party fighting aside to work on the issues that need to be worked on. He should be greatly commended. Let’s just hope we see more Senators like him, whether we agree with them or not. I think he is a big boon for the Republican party, and other Senators would be wise to follow his lead.

Medusa's Revenge Kid Icarus: Uprising Anime

Studio 4C impresses with it's handdrawn Medusa's Revenge Kid Icarus: Uprising anime exclusively on Nintendo Video!

Another way Nintendo is promoting Kid Icarus: Uprising is via an anime series of shorts developed by select famous anime studios that is currently running exclusively on Nintendo Video, a channel available to 3DS owners on their Nintendo 3DS. Go to the Nintendo Video Channel now and you can watch Thanatos Rising by Production I.G. in three installments, and the first installment of Medusa’s Revenge by Studio 4C! After Medusa’s Revenge, Kid Icarus: Uprising fans will have one more anime to look forward to, the next one by Shaft Inc.!

In my humble opinion the Thanatos Rising episode was pretty dumb, but Medusa’s Revenge was totally awesome so far. AND Medusa’s Revenge makes use of actual handdrawn artwork, instead of in-game quality CG.

Pre-Order Kid Icarus: Uprising for free 3D Classics: Kid Icarus!

Get 3D Classics: Kid Icarus for eShop free for pre-ordering Kid Icarus: Uprising for 3DS!

In addition, those who pre-order Kid Icarus: Uprising at GameStop, Amazon or Best Buy will get a special code included, that allows you to download a free copy of the exclusive 3D Classics: Kid Icarus! This special title (which, so far, has not been announced for release elsewhere) gives the stereoscopic, glasses-free remake treatment to the 8-bit NES classic “Kid Icarus”! Previous games in the “3D Classics” line include 3D Classics: Xevious (a game I’m totally addicted too!), 3D Classics: Excitebike, 3D Classics: Urban Champion, 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure and 3D Classics: TwinBee.

Here’s a trailer for Kid Icarus: Uprising!

I CAN’T WAIT for this game! Hopefully Nintendo will provide me with a review copy so I can review it for you guys! Who else is looking forward to Kid Icarus: Uprising, and do you think it represents a real “revival” of the 3DS? Considering the landslide of quality games that have hit the system since late last year.

I’m speaking of games like Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Pokemon Rumble Blast, Mario Kart 7, Resident Evil: Revelations, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Shinobi and Tetris Axis, they’ve really given the 3DS quite a great lineup.

When you consider all things, the 3DS has quite a great little library when you really think about it. :)
