Xbox Mode for Windows 11 PCs Now Available

Microsoft has begun the rollout of “Xbox Mode” for Windows 11 devices, which includes laptops, desktop computers, and tablets. This new feature aims to provide PC gamers with a console-like Xbox experience through a simplified interface that prioritizes the game library and minimizes other PC functions. According to Xbox Wire, the capabilities of Xbox Mode include:

  • Navigating and launching games with an interface designed for controller use.
  • Seamlessly switching between Xbox Mode and the standard Windows 11 desktop at any time.
  • Accessing a consolidated game library, featuring the complete catalog of Xbox Game Pass titles, along with installed games from major PC game stores.

Xbox Mode was initially showcased with the ROG Xbox Ally X handheld and was previously referred to as the “full screen experience.” Microsoft has emphasized that the development of this mode has been significantly influenced by player feedback and will continue to evolve across various devices. This commitment to evolving the Xbox Mode experience based on user input is a direct result of player suggestions.

Furthermore, the updated Xbox logo is now visible within the mode, as well as on dynamic backgrounds and profile elements, as announced by CEO Asha Sharma.

Currently, Xbox Mode is being rolled out in select regions, with a gradual expansion to other markets planned to ensure a smooth implementation. To enable the mode as soon as it becomes available in your region, follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings application on your Windows 11 PC.
  • Navigate to the “Windows Update” section.
  • Enable the option to “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available.”
