Following a surprise episode released yesterday, Disney has announced that the highly anticipated final season of The Bear will premiere this summer.
The fifth season of The Bear on Hulu will bring the critically acclaimed series to a close. The upcoming season will focus on Sydney and Sugar as they navigate the challenges of keeping The Bear restaurant operational after Carmy’s departure at the end of season 4. All eight episodes of the final season are set to debut this Thursday, June 25th, at 9:00 p.m. ET on Hulu, accessible through Disney+.
The announcement of the season 5 release date was preceded by an unexpected episode drop on Disney+ last night. Titled Gary, this hour-long installment is a flashback episode written by and starring Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richie and Jon Bernthal as Mikey. The episode offers a new perspective on their relationship as they undertake a delivery trip, set before Mikey’s death. This pivotal event led to his younger brother, Carmen “Carmy,” inheriting the family restaurant, which eventually became the setting for the series.
The Bear first premiered to significant acclaim in 2022, with its debut season achieving a perfect 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 2 maintained this high standard with a 99% rating. While seasons 3 and 4 saw ratings settle in the 80% range, audiences will have to wait and see if the series delivers a strong finale.
The ensemble cast includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, alongside Ayo Edebiri, Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, and Liza Colón-Zayas. Recurring roles are filled by Matty Matheson, Ricky Staffieri, Oliver Platt, Will Poulter, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
For those looking to catch up on the series or explore it for the first time, all previous seasons (1-4) are currently available to stream on Disney+.
The Bear Season 5, the series’ final installment, is scheduled to be released on June 25th, 2026.
