Jason Voorhees Joins Dead By Daylight, Unleashed from Camp Crystal Lake

Behaviour Interactive has partnered with Jason Universe to bring the legendary Friday the 13th killer, Jason Voorhees, into the chilling world of Dead by Daylight.

As Dead by Daylight approaches its 10th anniversary, fans of Friday the 13th can celebrate the long-awaited arrival of Jason Voorhees. Joining the ranks of terrifying Killers, Jason will enter The Fog on June 16, 2026. In the Entity Realm, he will stalk his prey with his signature machete, utilizing abilities inspired by his cinematic appearances. Additionally, three new cosmetic outfits for Jason Voorhees will be available.

Dead by Daylight, a survival-horror game released in June 2016, challenges four Survivors to repair generators and escape various sinister maps while evading a relentless Killer. Conversely, players embodying a Killer, whether a horror icon or a supernatural entity, must hunt down and sacrifice Survivors to The Entity before they can escape.

In response to persistent player requests since its launch, Dead by Daylight is making its 10th anniversary unforgettable by introducing the highly demanded Jason Voorhees. Emerging from the infamous Camp Crystal Lake, this homicidal maniac stalks the Trials with stealth and brutality. Armed with his trusty machete and two unique abilities inspired by the films, he’ll leave survivors questioning their every move.

Jason’s first ability, Omnipresent Evil, is a stealth mechanic mirroring his sudden appearances in the Friday the 13th movies. When activated, Jason vanishes from the map, gaining increased movement speed. He can track Survivors by their footsteps, anticipate their movements, and position himself for a terrifying reappearance. To break the stealth, Jason must target Pallets, Vault points, or breakable walls, creating a dramatic entrance that destroys nearby obstacles and triggers screams from unsuspecting Survivors.

The second ability at Jason Voorhees’ disposal is Improvised Carnage. Throughout the map, Jason can find containers holding makeshift projectiles, such as Locker fragments, broken Generator parts, shattered Pallets, and Hooks, which he can hurl at Survivors. A successful hit will stagger the victim, and under specific circumstances, can lead to stylish takedowns. If an injured Survivor is hit near a wall, they will be pinned until Jason claims them. This ability requires strategic collection of projectiles, as Jason can only replenish them by entering the Omnipresent Evil state.

Dave Richard, Senior Creative Director at Behaviour Interactive, commented on the 10th Anniversary Chapter: “There was never a question that our 10th Anniversary Chapter couldn’t just be big – it needed to be something really special. When we started to see a path to finally making this partnership a reality for our 10th, we knew then the perfect Jason moment had come. We’re just thrilled the stars aligned and we were able to work with the great folks at Jason Universe to deliver this for our players on such a major milestone for Dead by Daylight.”

Robbie Barsamian, Executive Vice President at Horror, Inc., expressed his excitement about fulfilling a long-standing fan request: “Our fans have wanted Jason to enter The Fog since Dead by Daylight launched. We’re thrilled to help make the game’s 10th anniversary celebration even more special for fans, and can’t wait for players to experience the killer new skins and gameplay that only Jason can deliver. Dead by Daylight has always been about nightmare horror stories, and Jason adds a new chapter we hope players will enjoy.”

Multiple outfits for Jason Voorhees will be available, ranging from his classic look to a decaying form. The available outfits include:

  • Default outfit: Designed by Greg Nicotero, this classic look features Jason’s iconic 13-holed hockey mask, machete, and weather-beaten clothes.
  • Backwoods Terror: Jason sports flannel and suspenders, wielding a heavy axe.
  • Death Forsaken: A grotesque form with exposed bone, wielding a shovel.
  • Depths of Despair Outfit: Emerging from the depths, Jason is covered in barnacles, coral, and seaweed.

This highly anticipated collaboration is a dream come true for many fans of Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th. Dead by Daylight: Jason launches on June 16, 2026, with a public test demo available on Steam starting May 26 for those eager to get an early taste of playing as the legendary killer.
