Gears of War: E-Day Release Date May Be Connected to an Upcoming WWE Event

An upcoming WWE event, set to be sponsored by Gears of War: E-Day, is scheduled for the fall of 2026 and could serve as the platform for the game’s official release date announcement.

Typically, WWE events feature previews of their associated WWE 2K games and other upcoming media. During the recent WWE Backlash broadcast, it was announced that their next major event would have Gears of War: E-Day as a sponsor. WWE Triplemania 34 is planned as a two-day event, in partnership with the Mexican wrestling promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, taking place on September 11th and 13th. Microsoft’s highly anticipated third-person shooter for Xbox Series X|S and PC has yet to receive a concrete release date.

Last year, on August 31st, tag team wrestlers The Street Profits appeared at the Clash in Paris event dressed as characters from Borderlands 4, which was released two weeks later. Similarly, at this year’s WrestleMania, wrestler Penta entered the arena dressed as Shao Khan from Mortal Kombat, shortly before the release of the Mortal Kombat 2 film. With Gears of War: E-Day being the primary sponsor of Triplemania, held in mid-September, it’s plausible that the game could be released in late September or early October.

This timing would also strategically avoid clashing with the November release of GTA 6. Other major AAA titles expected include The Blood of Dawnwalker and Marvel’s Wolverine, as the industry anticipates the next major release from Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games.

While Summer Games Fest is approaching on June 5th, more significant updates regarding Microsoft and Xbox titles are anticipated at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7th. Reports suggest a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct will follow the Xbox showcase. Microsoft has previously indicated that Fable is slated for a fall 2026 release, with Halo: Campaign Evolved and Minecraft Dungeons 2 also scheduled for release later this year, though none have confirmed release dates.

Xbox announced the showcase in March, stating: “Immediately following Showcase, we’ll go even deeper on one of the games coming later this year, directly from the team behind the Gears franchise, The Coalition Studio.” The Gears of War: E-Day Direct is expected to provide new details, gameplay footage, and insights into the origins of the Gears of War saga.

Fans should keep an eye on WWE Triplemania 34, which is scheduled to take place in Mexico City and another undisclosed location on September 11th and 13th. This event may offer the earliest opportunity to learn the official release date for Gears of War: E-Day, should it not be revealed earlier in the summer.
