The xTool C1 Color Cutter aims to streamline traditional crafting by merging printing, scanning, and precise blade cutting into one desktop machine.

xTool, known for its popular desktop laser engravers, introduces the C1 Color Cutter, a device that integrates scanning, full-color printing, and precise blade cutting. Announced on October 20th, the C1 enters the craft cutter market, a space often occupied by machines handling only specific parts of the creative process.

Creating custom stickers with older craft cutters often meant a multi-step hassle: printing on a separate device, transferring the sheet to a cutting mat, and aligning registration marks – a process that can waste materials and time.

The C1 simplifies this workflow. It features a built-in CMYK inkjet printer that applies graphics directly onto materials placed on the cutting bed. A dynamic blade then cuts the design without needing registration marks, maximizing material usage. Graphics printed with the company's Duraproof ink are designed to be waterproof and fade-resistant. For textiles, xTool claims prints can withstand up to 30 home washes after bonding.

An integrated Contact Image Sensor scans materials on the cutting bed, showing a 1:1 preview in the companion software. This allows users to precisely position designs, even on small material scraps. The scanner also supports automatic contour extraction from physical artwork. By reading QR codes on official xTool materials, it automatically sets cutting parameters. The AI-powered Atomm creation suite can generate cut-ready vectors from text or images, remove backgrounds instantly, and create 3D papercraft templates.

The machine supports a wide range of tools, including fine-point, deep-point, and rotary blades, as well as foil-transfer tips and detail pens. Supported materials include paper, cardstock, vinyl, faux leather, balsa wood, and fabric. An optional roll holder extends the cutting length to 12 feet, enabling work on larger projects without a mat.

Pre-orders for the xTool C1 are open, requiring a refundable deposit of $10 USD or $15 CAD through the Canadian store. The starting price is $469 USD. Early purchasers receive a bonus material kit with over 10 crafting materials, a 20% discount card for materials valid for 180 days, and entry into a giveaway for a free unit. Final payments and global shipping are set to begin November 5th.
