Samsung's Quick Share Now Interoperable with Apple AirDrop
Samsung has officially confirmed a significant update: its Quick Share feature is now compatible with Apple's AirDrop. This integration allows for seamless file transfers between Samsung Galaxy and Apple devices, marking a major step towards improved cross-platform connectivity.
Compatibility Requires a Google Play Services Update
To enable AirDrop support via Quick Share, a specific update to Google Play Services is required. Users will need version 26.11.XX or higher. It is recommended to check the Google Play Store for available updates; users can also attempt to "force" an update by directly accessing the Google Play Services page. It's also noted that a server-side component might influence its activation.
This new functionality will first roll out to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in Korea, starting March 23rd. Following this initial launch, the feature will gradually become available in other global regions, including Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. Samsung plans to extend this compatibility to additional Galaxy devices at a later date.
How iPhone Users Can Prepare for Transfers
For iPhone users wishing to receive files from a Galaxy S26 via Quick Share, a simple adjustment is needed. Within the iPhone's AirDrop settings, users must select the "Everyone" option for discoverability. This ensures the Apple device can be identified by the Galaxy phone for photo, video, and other file transfers.
This interoperability, previously seen with Pixel 10 smartphones, underscores a growing trend towards simplifying digital interactions across different mobile ecosystems, promising a more connected user experience for millions.
