Microsoft Launches New Surface Devices with Snapdragon X2 Plus

Microsoft unveiled its latest Surface portable hardware at Snapdragon Summit, featuring new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models powered by the Snapdragon X2 Plus chip.

The updated 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop are built around Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X2 Plus processor. Microsoft claims these devices deliver up to 17% faster performance in Office tasks, 18% improved battery efficiency, over 60% enhanced graphics, and up to 95% quicker local AI inferencing. Engineers collaborated with Qualcomm to optimize the chips for sustained performance, quiet operation, and responsive on-device AI. Experiences can run locally, in the cloud, or a combination of both.

The 13-inch Surface Laptop retains its premium aluminum design, full-size backlit keyboard, and precision touchpad. It features a taller 3:2 PixelSense touchscreen that is now 25% brighter, reaching 500 nits. Battery life is rated for up to 22.5 hours of local video playback. A new Black color option is available. Pricing begins at US$1,199, with availability starting October 13 in select markets.

The 12-inch Surface Pro maintains its flexible tablet-to-laptop design, compatible with the optional Surface Pro Keyboard and Surface Slim Pen (sold separately). It introduces Microsoft Ink Canvas, an AI-powered app for sketching, annotating, summarizing text, and generating images. This app comes pre-installed and will also be available on other compatible Surface and Windows devices on the same day. The Surface Pro starts at US$1,149.99. Commercial customers can opt for a 5G configuration.

Additionally, Microsoft announced the new Surface Mouse. It includes haptic feedback in each click, an ambidextrous design, a customizable Copilot button, and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, priced at US$79.99. All three products go on sale October 13.
