My Hero Academia's Decade: New Visuals and Free Marathon Ahead of Episode 171
TOHO animation has announced celebrations for the tenth anniversary of the anime series "My Hero Academia," unveiling new promotional artwork and a free streaming marathon.
Even though Kohei Horikoshi's manga has officially concluded (after selling over 100 million copies worldwide), Studio BONES has confirmed it will animate its final chapter. Ahead of the release of Episode 171, titled "More," TOHO animation revealed a new campaign to mark the anime's decade milestone. A new English key visual has also been released for the highly anticipated "More" episode, set to premiere on May 2, 2026, exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide (excluding Asia).
"My Hero Academia" first aired on April 3, 2016, and has since become one of the most successful global anime franchises over the past ten years. The series comprises eight seasons, 170 episodes, and four feature films. The global celebration, which began at Jump Festa, continues with the debut of a new 10th-anniversary key visual, an updated visual for the upcoming Episode 170+1 "More," and a global free-streaming initiative to commemorate the anime's initial broadcast.
The special May episode adapts the manga's 431st chapter, originally included in the final volume. The episode follows Izuku "Deku" Midoriya and his classmates eight years after graduating from U.A. High School. As part of the anniversary festivities, TOHO has also launched "My Hero Academia 10th Anniversary: Free Binge Marathon — Early Seasons (1–3)." This limited-time global streaming event offers seasons 1–3 (Episodes 1–63) for free, with subtitle options in seven languages: English, French, Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain), German, Portuguese, and Italian.
The streaming schedule is as follows:
- Season 1 (Episodes 1–13): April 3, 2026, 5:00 AM PT – May 3, 2026, 7:59 AM PT
- Season 2 (Episodes 14–26): April 30, 2026, 8:00 AM PT – May 31, 2026, 7:59 AM PT
- Season 2 (Episodes 27–38): May 31, 2026, 8:00 AM PT – June 30, 2026, 7:59 AM PT
- Season 3 (Episodes 39–51): June 30, 2026, 8:00 AM PT – July 31, 2026, 7:59 AM PT
- Season 3 (Episodes 52–63): July 31, 2026, 8:00 AM PT – August 31, 2026, 7:59 AM PT
While the marathon does not include all eight seasons, it provides ample content to captivate new viewers or evoke nostalgia for long-time fans. One of the two new key visuals features the 10th-anniversary logo surrounded by many of the main characters from the series, set against the familiar yellow background from Season 1 and the first manga volume. The second visual showcases Deku, Shoto, Bakugo, Froppy, and Uraraka post-eight-year timeskip, navigating through the city.
The "My Hero Academia" anime's 10th-anniversary celebration will continue throughout 2026 with further projects, including a global concert tour, collaborations, and other announcements to be revealed in the coming months.
