Minecraft LIVE Unveils Theme Park, Game Updates, and Dungeons 2
Minecraft LIVE recently broadcasted a slew of exciting announcements, impacting both the virtual game world and real-world experiences.
A major reveal was "Minecraft World," a real-world theme park scheduled to open its doors in 2027. This immersive park will feature numerous Minecraft-themed attractions, including a pioneering rollercoaster designed to evoke in-game minecart rides, alongside interactive activities, unique playscapes, and themed retail and dining options.
Developed through a collaboration between Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, "Minecraft World" prioritizes authenticity, even engaging Minecraft creators in its design process. The park will be located at Chessington World of Adventures, conveniently a 35-minute train ride from London Waterloo.
Further extending Minecraft's presence into the real world is "Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail," set to launch in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in May 2026. This fully interactive night adventure will allow participants to engage in classic Minecraft activities like mining diamonds, restoring ancient beacons, and crafting gear. Attendees are encouraged to bring their virtual torches for this unique experience.
Shifting back to the game itself, an extended preview of the "Tiny Takeover" update was showcased. This charming update reworks the design of all baby mobs, giving every small creature, even hostile ones, an even cuter appearance. Additionally, a new item called the Golden Dandelion, when crafted and used on a baby mob, grants them eternal youth, preventing them from ever growing up.
Other in-game additions include the long-awaited ability to craft nametags using a piece of paper and any metal nugget. Redstone enthusiasts will be thrilled by a new feature allowing note blocks placed over copper blocks to produce trumpet-like sounds. The sound's timbre ingeniously changes based on the copper block's oxidation level, promising creative new auditory designs for redstone contraptions.
A forthcoming content update will introduce sulfur caves and sulfur cubes. These unique cubes, similar to regular slimes, gain special properties—such as increased bounciness—when they absorb certain materials, either fed by a player or from nearby objects. Sulfur caves are the exclusive home to these cubes, as well as Sulfur and Cinnabar, a new block type reminiscent of stone and granite, available in raw, brick, chiseled, and polished forms. Players venturing into these caves must be cautious of sulfur gas pools, which inflict a noxious effect.
Minecraft LIVE concluded with another significant announcement: "Minecraft Dungeons 2," which will be available for wishlisting starting March 21st. Mojang delivered a truly substantial list of news and updates for its dedicated player base.
