Harry Potter Live-Action Series: First Look & Cast Revealed by HBO
HBO has released the first official look at the highly anticipated live-action Harry Potter series. The image shows the new protagonist, Dominic McLaughlin, embodying Harry Potter, as he heads towards the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch on a snowy day, cloaked in his Gryffindor robes.
McLaughlin was selected for the lead role after an extensive open casting call that saw approximately 32,000 young hopefuls, with the production team reviewing up to 1,000 auditions daily.
The high-profile cast features Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, completing the iconic magical trio. Among the adult cast members are Nick Frost as Hagrid, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu taking on the role of Severus Snape.
Currently in production at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, UK, the series aims for a 2027 release, with each season dedicated to one of the seven beloved books. The project is spearheaded by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, the acclaimed creative duo behind the series 'Succession'.
The promotional image, shared across social media, was accompanied by the word “Tomorrow” and a lightning bolt emoji, strongly indicating the imminent release of the first trailer, expected to drop on March 25th. This announcement has ignited immense excitement among fans worldwide.
