FBC Firebreak Gets Last Major Update, Permanent Price Drop & Friend's Pass
FBC Firebreak, a spin-off set in the universe of its acclaimed counterpart Control, is receiving its final significant content update, accompanied by a permanent price reduction.
Remedy Entertainment, the developers of FBC Firebreak, have confirmed that this will be the game's ultimate content update. However, FBC Firebreak is set to avoid the common fate of many online titles, as Remedy has ensured its longevity by providing independent server support for years to come.
Game Director Mike Kayatta stated in an official press release that the team aims to preserve the game's enjoyable moments for current players and anyone seeking an energetic, low-pressure game night with friends. To achieve this, relay servers will remain active, the price has been reduced, and a "Friend's Pass" has been introduced. Kayatta extended gratitude to players for their passion and experimentation.
The newly introduced Friend's Pass enables game owners to invite their friends to play for free (referred to as a "free trial" on consoles). This pass is just one component of the comprehensive "Open House" update, which features extensive patch notes primarily addressing game balance and system enhancements, alongside minor adjustments like achievement description alterations. A significant highlight is the addition of five new maps inspired by the main Control series: the Cafeteria, Aircon Room, Ranger HQ, Turntable, and Ritual Lobby.
To mark its final chapter of active development, FBC Firebreak is now permanently discounted, priced at $19.99, with an additional 20 percent reduction available on Steam. This presents a bittersweet conclusion for a game that received substantial effort, yet it's reassuring that it will remain playable for years to come, avoiding the fate of many online titles lost to defunct servers.
