Dota 2 Patch 7.41 Released: New Features, Bug Fixes, and DirectX 11 Requirement
Valve has rolled out Dota 2 Patch 7.41, introducing a series of technical enhancements and essential bug fixes designed to improve game stability and the overall player experience. This update for the popular MOBA brings several notable changes across various aspects of the game.
Key Interface and Quality-of-Life Improvements
A significant new feature is the introduction of a visual indicator that now appears above characters when a consumable item (such as a Tango) is used or passed to an ally within a certain range. This addition aims to enhance the readability of support actions during matches, making vital plays clearer. Furthermore, players now have an option to display their selected hero's actual vision area, taking into account the fog of war, which provides a more precise understanding of line of sight mechanics.
Inventory Revisions and Technical Fixes
Inventory management has received a notable overhaul: components for item recipes are now consistently ordered from the most expensive to the least expensive (with a few specific exceptions). This change is intended to streamline the process of making quick purchases and assembling items more efficiently. On the technical front, several bugs have been resolved, including issues with 'on-hit' effects that occurred when a large number of projectiles were simultaneously present on screen. Anomalies that caused Watcher and Sentry models to be incorrectly replaced with other assets have also been fixed, ensuring visual consistency.
Neutral Items and Ability Draft Updates
The handling of neutral items has been refined for better consistency. If a player's inventory is full and the dedicated neutral item slot is already occupied by an innate item, any attempt to create a new neutral item will now correctly fail without consuming valuable resources. Additionally, a problem where neutral item hotkeys could inadvertently override standard hotkeys under certain conditions has been corrected, preventing input conflicts. The Ability Draft game mode also sees relevant updates: all heroes now inherently possess their innate ability from the selection phase, and the overall ability pool has been synchronized with the latest patch changes to ensure a current and balanced experience.
Specific Bug Resolutions and Major System Requirement Change
Various specific malfunctions have been addressed, enhancing gameplay reliability. These include an issue where Lone Druid's Bear Spirit sometimes failed to appear after a certain duration, as well as incorrect interactions between specific abilities and items. Most notably, Valve has announced a significant technical policy change: future updates will discontinue support for Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) that are not compatible with DirectX 11 and Shader Model 5. Upcoming graphical enhancements and game evolutions will necessitate these modern standards, with a subsequent update planned to permanently exclude older devices. According to official data, this decision impacts only a minimal percentage of the active user base, ensuring most players remain unaffected while allowing the game's graphical capabilities to advance.
