Cyberpunk TCG Kickstarter Exceeds $8M, Funded in 5 Minutes
The official Cyberpunk TCG has achieved phenomenal success on Kickstarter, rapidly raising nearly $8 million. The campaign, launched by tabletop game company WeirdCo, spectacularly surpassed its initial $100,000 goal in just five minutes, underscoring the continuous robust growth of the trading card game market.
This new collectible card game is intricately set within the rich universe of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk, drawing direct inspiration from the acclaimed video game Cyberpunk 2077 and the animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. As of the current update, the project has garnered $7.9 million, exceeding its original target by almost 8,000 percent, with a substantial 30 days still remaining on the crowdfunding platform.
The inaugural set, titled "Welcome to Night City," is slated for a December 2026 release. It is confirmed to feature a host of iconic characters, including V, Jackie Welles, Johnny Silverhand, and Judy Álvarez. Plans are already in motion for a subsequent set that will further integrate elements from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners animated series, expanding the tabletop experience.
Following the swift achievement of their funding goal, the WeirdCo team conveyed profound gratitude in a Kickstarter update, describing the rapid success as "surreal." They highlighted the extensive effort invested over a considerable period in designing the cards, developing the intricate gameplay mechanics, collaborating with talented artists, and meticulously preparing for the campaign's launch.
The campaign's remarkable momentum continues to unlock additional stretch goals, adding even more value for backers. WeirdCo has introduced further targets, including a Johnny Silverhand Legend Pack Upgrade once funding hits $8.5 million, custom card sleeves at the $9 million mark, and a Saburo Arasaka Legend Pack Upgrade if the campaign reaches $9.5 million. Furthermore, if the funding escalates to $10 million, all backers from the "Common Cyberdecks" tier up to "Night City Legend" will receive an exclusive Nova Rare Rebecca: Having a Moment card, alongside an extra Legend Pack for their Beta Box.
Contributing to the Kickstarter offers players unique access to exclusive items and card artwork that will be available solely through this promotional period. Fans eager to be involved from the ground floor of the Cyberpunk TCG are strongly encouraged to visit the official Kickstarter page, as many pledge tiers remain accessible for those wishing to back the project.
