Chuck Norris, Legendary Action Star and Martial Artist, Passes Away at 86

The family of Chuck Norris, the renowned martial artist and Hollywood action star, announced his passing on Friday.

In an Instagram statement, his family shared the sad news of his sudden death, noting he was surrounded by loved ones and at peace, though they opted to keep the specific circumstances private.

They further described him as a global symbol of strength, an actor, and a martial artist, but to them, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His life was characterized by faith, purpose, and loyalty, inspiring millions globally through his work, discipline, and compassionate nature.

Norris achieved widespread recognition for his portrayal of Texas Ranger Sergeant Cordell Walker, a role he played for nine seasons in the popular series Walker, Texas Ranger. Both the character and Norris himself were famously associated with impressive roundhouse kicks, a detail often celebrated in early 2000s internet memes.

Born Carlos Ray Norris in Ryan, Oklahoma, on March 10, 1940, he initially gained renown as a martial arts champion and instructor. His acting career began with The Wrecking Crew in 1968, followed by significant roles in films such as Bruce Lee’s The Way of the Dragon, Lone Wolf McQuade, and Missing in Action.
