It has been nearly three years since Marvel’s Blade was announced at The Game Awards, and today fans have received a small update, suggesting it’s still in development.
There has been radio silence from the developer’s end regarding Marvel’s Blade. Since 2023, Arkane Lyon has kept their cards close to their chest about the latest Marvel game in development, and today, fans finally have an update indicating it has remained in development at least through May 2026.
Bethesda Head Todd Howard sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in May (it was published today), before Summer Game Fest 2026 and the XBOX Games Showcase, and gave fans a ray of hope regarding Marvel’s resident vampire hunter. For a refresher, the trailer shown at TGA 2023 is below, featuring Eric Brooks (Blade) in full vampire-hunting regalia.
With the current gaming landscape and rampant rumours of studio closures at XBOX, any news about previously revealed titles is welcome, no matter how small. In the interview, when speaking about in-development projects, Todd Howard said, “I’m not at liberty to say when [we’ll see more],” adding, “but I saw some stuff just yesterday [on May 21], and the folks at Arkane [Studios, the developers] are doing a really, really great job.” Although the interview went live today, Howard confirmed he saw “some stuff” regarding Marvel’s Blade from Arkane, which means up to May 21, the title was still in development.

Marvel’s Blade was a no-show at this year’s Summer Game Fest, so fans were quick to worry about the fate of the vampire-hunting title, especially considering the current XBOX landscape is filled with reports and rumours that there are impending shutdowns for developers like Ninja Theory, Double Fine, and Compulsion Games. Fans feared the worst for Arkane Lyon and figured Marvel’s Blade could be next on the chopping block. Fans have posted in the forum as recently as four days ago, thinking the game has also been put on the shelf.
It appears, for now, Marvel’s Blade is still in development, and Arkane Lyon is still producing “some stuff” as of May 21. Neither Marvel nor Arkane Lyon has made any official announcements regarding the title, so fans should take this news with a grain of salt (especially given it happened BEFORE potential XBOX studio closures) until one is made.
