Speculation is rife regarding the highly anticipated Atlus RPG, Persona 6, with fresh rumors hinting at its release date and the identity of its main protagonist.
Sources from the Chinese forum Xiaohongshu have allegedly revealed concept art depicting the game’s central character and a significant female lead. These claims have been bolstered by a well-known insider, lolilolailo, who has a track record of accurate information leaks concerning Persona and Yakuza/Like a Dragon titles. It’s reported that these leaks originated from an external animation team that was subsequently dismissed and penalized for unauthorized disclosure.
The leaked concept art suggests the main protagonist is male, characterized by a short, blonde, bowl-style haircut, bearing some resemblance to Bebe from Persona 3. The female character is described as having a bob cut with black and red hair. While there have been prior rumors of Persona 6 featuring dual protagonists, the current leak indicates the blonde male will be the primary playable character, with the female lead playing a crucial supporting role.
Further fueling speculation, concept art of a specific location has emerged, leading to theories that Persona 6 might be set in Yokohama. This would mark a departure from the series’ recent settings, as Persona 5 was set in Tokyo and Persona 4 in the rural town of Inaba. Additional concept art can be found on Reddit.
In addition to the visual leaks, a potential release window has also been shared. According to lolilolailo, Atlus is targeting a September 2027 release for Persona 6. This timing follows closely on the heels of Persona 4 Revival receiving a rating in South Korea, a region that typically rates games shortly before their launch, suggesting a potential release in the latter half of this year or early next. If both titles were to launch in close succession, it would present fans with a significant amount of new Persona content within a single year.
The wait for the next installment in the main Persona series has been considerable, with Persona 5 releasing in 2016 and its enhanced version, Persona 5 Royal, in 2020. The most recent remake, Persona 3 Reload, was launched in 2024. Fans are hopeful that the wait for both eagerly awaited titles will soon conclude.
