Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Brings 12 New Dungeons, a New Region, Relic-Powered Gear, and More

After its surprise reveal at the latest Nintendo Direct, Capcom has shared a wealth of new details on Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen — the expanded and updated version of the 2024 RPG.

During a Capcom Spotlight presentation, Producer Kento Kinoshita broke down just how drastic an update this
“expansion” actually is. First and foremost, Dark Arisen will be adding a swathe of new content to the game, including a new story. But the biggest news is the entirely new explorable region of Norgan, a seemingly icy wasteland.

Kinoshita describes Norgan as a “frigid landscape filled with mystery.” The Fallen Dragon, who played a huge role in the story of the first game, will apparently be a major part of the story in this region, along with a mysterious woman named Eir who pursues the Dragon.

Outside of Norgan, there will be 12 entirely new dungeon challenges added to Dragon’s Dogma 2. This will also help introduce the new Relics system. Relics found in the world or in dungeons can be appraised, revealing formidable weapons and armour that are more powerful than common equipment in terms of stats, but also can contain special effects and unique skills.

Finally, the character creator will be expanded to include more options. Kinoshita specifically mentions hair and tattoos as two options that have been greatly improved. You can see the full segment in the Capcom Spotlight below, starting at 9:20.

Dark Arisen can be purchased as DLC for $30 if you already own Dragon’s Dogma 2, or bundled together as a standalone release for $50.

In addition to all these additions in Dark Arisen, Capcom says it will also release another major patch in August that improves performance, alters the save system, adjusts Dragonsplague, and increases weapon slots from four to six.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launches on October 9 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
