Behaviour Interactive is pulling out all the stops to celebrate Dead by Daylight’s 10th anniversary, unveiling a roadmap packed with exciting new content and significant updates.
Following the highly anticipated return of Jason Voorhees, the developers hosted a special 10th-anniversary event in Montreal. During a broadcast at the event, they showcased upcoming projects, including the arrival of Art the Clown from the Terrifier franchise and a complete visual overhaul slated for 2027.
For those new to the game, Dead by Daylight, launched on June 14, 2016, pits four Survivors against a terrifying Killer. Survivors must cooperate to repair generators, rescue captured teammates, and escape, while the Killer’s objective is to hunt and sacrifice them to The Entity. Players can step into the role of iconic horror movie villains, video game antagonists, or original paranormal threats.
The 10th-anniversary celebration, spanning from 2026 to early 2027, will feature numerous new Chapters and Collaborations. The celebration kicks off with the much-requested Jason Chapter on June 16. Following this, on June 25, the Survivor-focused Chapter The Life Road and the game’s first Indigenous Survivor, Shane Wiigwaas, will be introduced. August 2027 will see the launch of the Chorus of Sin, the first Chapter developed in collaboration with the game’s community. Horror fans will be thrilled by the arrival of Art the Clown in the Terrifier Chapter in November 2026, and a Chapter based on The Casting of Frank Stone is scheduled for 2027.
Beyond new content, Dead by Daylight is set to receive a comprehensive visual upgrade in 2027. This overhaul will include reworked character models with enhanced animations and realistic facial expressions, along with new voice lines for original characters. Maps and environments will be revitalized with improved lighting, shading, textures, and more immersive Fog and Mist effects, alongside a stronger Entity presence. For the first time, the game will also feature dynamic weather, including light and heavy rain and storms.
In addition to the visual revamp, new game modes are planned for the coming years, with early details hinting at a 1v1 Mode and a Zombie Mode. Next year will also see the official introduction of sandbox modding, empowering players to create their own Maps, Modes, and more with provided tools.
On the multimedia front, Behaviour Interactive’s Executive Vice President Stephen Mulrooney provided an update on the upcoming Dead by Daylight film from Blumhouse. The screenplay by Alexandre Aja and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is complete, and Thordur Palsson has been tapped as the film’s director.
