Xbox has rolled out its September update, introducing a series of enhancements aimed at optimizing the gaming experience across both console and PC platforms, ensuring a smoother and more accessible gameplay for users.
Microsoft outlined these numerous new features, including some previously in beta, in a detailed Xbox Wire announcement. These updates are now live for both console and PC gamers.
Among the key additions is the beta expansion of the AI-powered Gaming Copilot assistant, now available on Windows PC Game Bar and slated for the Xbox mobile app next month. Furthermore, the Xbox PC app has received a significant overhaul, making it simpler to locate games, applications, and your activity history through improved menu navigation. PC users will also benefit from a cleaner Social widgets interface, a new Network Quality Indicator tool for diagnosing connectivity issues, and streamlined game save synchronization across various devices.
Another significant update for the month is the introduction of Offer Wallet, a consolidated system designed to simplify how users access and redeem Xbox offers. Additionally, a new dynamic background themed around Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has been released, anticipating the game`s multiplayer beta launch on October 2.
Gaming Copilot has emerged as a somewhat contentious feature within the Xbox ecosystem. Introduced earlier this year, this AI-driven assistant functions as an in-game overlay, similar to Steam, offering immediate help and recommendations. It includes an integrated AI chatbot capable of analyzing your Xbox profile to provide insights on diverse topics such as enemy strategies, gamer score progression, and unlocking rare achievements.
Separately, Microsoft confirmed on September 19 that Xbox console prices in the US would see another increase, effective October 3. The 512GB Xbox Series S, currently the most affordable model, will be priced at $400 following this adjustment.
