Xbox is set to host its highly anticipated annual game showcase this June, coinciding with the Summer Game Fest. This year’s event will feature an extensive look at upcoming titles and an exclusive, in-depth presentation of the prequel, Gears of War E-Day.
The showcase is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, at 10 AM PT, as confirmed by Asha Sharma, the new EVP and CEO of Microsoft Gaming. Following the main presentation, a dedicated Gears of War E-Day Direct will immediately air, offering a deep dive into the new prequel title.
The annual Xbox Games Showcase promises to deliver first looks at gameplay and significant announcements regarding upcoming games. These reveals will come from both Xbox’s first-party studios and various third-party partners globally, covering everything from major franchises to promising indie gems. Following this, the Gears of War: E-Day Direct will explore the origins of Emergence Day, providing new details, gameplay footage, and insights into this eagerly awaited prequel to the beloved Gears of War saga, directly from The Coalition Studio.
Adding to the excitement, Xbox FanFest will return, giving fans a unique opportunity to experience the presentation live. Information on how to participate and potentially win tickets will be made available. This year’s showcase is expected to be particularly noteworthy, with several first-party games already confirmed to be in development, including titles such as Fable, Blade, and Clockwork Revolution.
In related company news, a recent report indicates that one of Asha Sharma’s initial actions as the head of Xbox was to discontinue the “This is an Xbox” marketing campaign. A statement from Xbox clarified that the campaign “didn’t feel like Xbox,” and Sharma is reportedly spearheading an effort to redefine the brand’s public identity.
Upon assuming her new role, Sharma outlined three core commitments essential for the company’s future success: delivering exceptional games, fostering the “return of Xbox,” and innovating the “future of play.”
