Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: Update Improves Performance and Adds Freebies

Just one day after its launch, publisher 505 Games has rolled out a significant update for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. This patch aims to fix numerous performance issues, resolve bugs, and deliver missing pre-order bonuses to players. As an apology for the initial difficulties, every game owner will receive the original soundtrack DLC for free.

According to the patch notes, a manual toggle for low latency mode has been introduced, meaning it will no longer be enabled by default. VRAM optimization for less powerful graphics cards has also been implemented. 505 Games reports that crashes occurring immediately after the company logo during startup have been resolved, and stuttering issues during finisher animations have been eliminated.

Players who pre-ordered either the Standard or Deluxe edition of the game will now correctly receive all promised rewards. If the bonuses do not appear automatically, the publisher advises re-logging into the game and claiming them from the “Donation Box” located in the Reverent Temple.

In addition to technical fixes, gameplay balance adjustments have also been made. The landmine encounter in Chapter Two is now designed to be “more fair and enjoyable”: the number of landmines has been reduced, and their damage output has been lowered.

Beyond this current update, 505 Games has announced that it is working on a more extensive patch, expected to be released “in the next few days.” The developers recommend that players still experiencing issues contact customer support or visit the game`s FAQ page for further information and assistance.

At its peak, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers attracted over 115,000 concurrent players, but reviews on the Steam platform are “mostly negative,” primarily due to complaints about insufficient performance optimization.

Patch 1.3: Details

⚙️ Performance Optimizations

  • Low Latency Mode is now a manual toggle in the Options menu. It will no longer be enabled by default.
  • Supersampling resolution limits have been adjusted on select GPU models to prevent unintended performance degradation.
  • VRAM optimization for lower-end GPUs:
    • For GPUs with 8GB or less VRAM, memory-saving optimization is now applied across all texture quality levels.
    • For GPUs with more than 8GB VRAM, this optimization applies only when texture quality is set to Low.
  • These changes improve stability and reduce crashes or stuttering caused by insufficient video memory.

🛠 Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements

  • Fixed a crash that could occur immediately after the company logo during game startup.
  • Resolved execution stutter affecting select hardware configurations during finisher animations.
  • Fixed issues related to both the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition – after the patch update, players of both versions will receive the correct content rewards. Players who have already purchased the Deluxe Edition will need to log in again and claim the reward at the donation box located in Reverent Temple.
  • All WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers owners will receive the Original Soundtrack DLC for free as compensation.

⚔️ Gameplay Balance Adjustments

  • Chapter 2 – Landmine Encounter Rebalancing:
    • Reduced the number of landmines and adjusted their damage output to create a more fair and enjoyable challenge.
