A new Nintendo Direct presentation is reportedly on the horizon, according to reliable insider Nate the Hate. During a podcast on July 14, he indicated that the event is slated to take place this month.
Nate the Hate specifically stated, “The big question is, I`ve been informed there will be a Direct this July, but it won`t happen until after Donkey Kong Bananza is released.” He added that he lacked any further specific details regarding the precise timing beyond this condition.
Given that Bananza is set to launch on July 17 for Switch 2, a potential Direct would logically follow that date, assuming this insider information proves accurate.
These were the full extent of his comments regarding the rumored presentation. Nintendo typically uses Directs to unveil a variety of announcements. Potential reveals could include details on a rumored Donkey Kong movie, or even confirmation of Red Dead Redemption II coming to Switch 2. Additionally, Activision has previously expressed interest in bringing Call of Duty to the Switch platform.
It`s important to note that a Pokemon Presents event is already scheduled for July 22. While Nate the Hate pointed out that having concurrent Nintendo-related events in the same week is not unprecedented, he believes it`s more probable that the general July Direct would occur in the final week of the month. This timing would place it just before Nintendo releases its latest earnings results on August 1.
The most recent Nintendo Direct took place on June 18 and was exclusively dedicated to Bananza. Before that, a significant Switch 2 Direct was held on April 2, followed by a Mario Kart World Direct on April 17. Although Nintendo did not host a general Direct event in July 2024 or July 2023, this historical pattern might not necessarily dictate future scheduling.
