Developer Saber Interactive has announced that Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will continue to receive new free content until 2026, including a long-awaited new playable class.
As detailed in Space Marine 2`s “Year 2 Battle Plan”, the Techmarine class will become the game`s seventh playable class. Its introduction is scheduled as part of Patch 12, expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2026.
Saber Interactive provided few details about the Techmarine, other than its ability to wield a unique weapon: the Omnissiah Axe. In Warhammer 40K lore, Techmarines train under the Adeptus Mechanicus to master ancient technologies and continue the fight against humanity`s foes.
Beyond the Techmarine, the “Year 2 Battle Plan” also encompasses numerous new PvE missions to be added with Patches 11, 12, and 13, new PvP arenas, a new map for the “Siege” mode, progression updates, and more. These updates will coincide with the release of cosmetic DLC packs for various Space Marine chapters, such as the Blood Angels, Iron Hands, Salamanders, Raven Guard, and others.

The second year of content support for Space Marine 2 is set to commence on September 4 with the release of an anniversary update. This update will introduce a new PvP mode where players can control a Helbrute. It also includes additional weapons, a new enemy – the Chaos Spawn Majoris, an extra PvE mission, and cosmetic DLC for the Imperial Fists and Black Templars.
This past year has been significant for Space Marine 2: in June, Saber Interactive revealed that the game had sold seven million copies. The developer also confirmed the official start of development for Space Marine 3, while simultaneously continuing to release free updates for Space Marine 2, which have included a new Horde mode and enhanced mod support.
However, the recent remaster of the original Space Marine was not as well-received. At launch, the game faced numerous issues, leading publisher Sega to offer refunds, even as they outlined plans to improve the shooter.
