Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Developer Adjusts Paid Clan DLC Strategy

The developer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, The Chinese Room, is reconsidering its approach to charging players for access to two of the game`s six vampire clans. This decision follows significant negative feedback from fans after the October release date and special editions were announced during Gamescom week. The two clans in question, Lasombra and Toreador, were originally slated to be available through a $22 “Shadows and Silk” add-on pack, which was also included in the deluxe edition and “Santa Monica Memories” DLC.

Community developer DebbieElla stated on the Bloodlines 2 Discord group, “We are listening to your feedback about the Lasombra and Toreador clan access, and we`re making adjustments ahead of launch to reflect this. We will share more information about what this means as soon as possible.”

While the specifics of these adjustments are yet to be revealed, The Chinese Room had previously explained at Gamescom that these two clans were developed as additional content at the request of publisher Paradox Interactive.

In Bloodlines 2, clans define a character`s core identity, offering unique powers and skills. For instance, Toreador vampires might focus on seduction, while Lasombra specialize in shadow manipulation. Although each clan grants easier access to its inherent abilities, players can still acquire powers from other clans by spending more skill points or unique in-game currencies obtained from specific NPCs or vampire mentors. Additionally, each clan provides distinct passive abilities rooted in its unique culture.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is scheduled to launch on October 21 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
