Valor Mortis: Intense Soulslike Gameplay Debuts at Triple-i Initiative

At the recent Triple-i Initiative showcase, Lyrical Games officially unveiled a brand-new trailer for Valor Mortis, providing an exciting first glimpse into its first-person Soulslike combat. The game is under development by the highly regarded studio, One More Level.

One More Level, renowned for their dynamic and fast-paced titles such as Ghostrunner and its successful sequel, introduced their latest creation to an eager audience. Valor Mortis immerses players in a dark, supernatural interpretation of 19th-century Europe. The continent is plagued by a mysterious affliction that emerged in the aftermath of Napoleon Bonaparte’s campaigns. Players embody William, a soldier of the Grande Armée who has been resurrected and is guided by the ethereal voice of Napoleon himself.

The new *Valor Mortis* trailer vividly demonstrates the diverse array of tools and sophisticated traversal mechanics available to players. Drawing inspiration from their work on Ghostrunner, the game allows William to employ a grapple hook, perform parkour maneuvers, and execute wall-runs to outmaneuver enemies and gain strategic high ground. Combat is centered around the rapier, a weapon demanding significant skill, rewarding players for precisely timed parries and agile dodges. Expect to confront truly grotesque adversaries, including ‘The Orphan,’ a monstrous inhabitant of the city sewers known for its ability to spew corrosive acid from a gaping chest cavity.

The game’s deeply unsettling and horror-infused atmosphere is powerfully underscored by an original musical score, co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski—celebrated for his contributions to the Silent Hill 2 Remake, The Medium, and the Layers of Fear series—alongside One More Level’s in-house composer, Oskar Bała. Beyond the primary rapier, William’s arsenal will expand to include various weapons, such as pistols, and potent supernatural abilities designed to combat the pervasive plague.

Valor Mortis is currently projected for a release in Fall 2026. Interested players can already add the title to their Steam wishlists to stay updated.
