Upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza Game Details Leaking Online Ahead of Release

Story information for Nintendo Switch 2`s upcoming major first-party game, Donkey Kong Bananza, is appearing online shortly before its official release later this week.

According to reports, some fans have obtained early copies of the game, leading to story elements being posted on the internet. Players anticipating the game should be cautious when browsing online over the next few days before the game officially launches on July 17th.

Although plot is typically not central to Donkey Kong titles, Donkey Kong Bananza features the main ape collaborating with a younger version of Pauline. This character`s inclusion had been rumored prior to her official announcement in last month`s Donkey Kong Bananza Direct stream. This partnership has sparked significant discussion regarding the Donkey Kong series timeline, prompting speculation about whether this game is a prequel or set in an alternate reality.

The Donkey Kong Bananza Direct previously confirmed the appearance of other familiar characters from the Donkey Kong Country franchise, including Kranky Kong and Rambi. Additionally, the well-known DK Rap is featured in the game.

This game marks Donkey Kong`s return to the 3D platforming genre since Donkey Kong 64 in 1999. It is also the first main series game to be developed internally by Nintendo since Donkey Kong Jungle Beat in 2005. A preview confirmed that the development is being handled by the team responsible for Super Mario Odyssey.

Furthermore, a recent listing suggests a Donkey Kong movie is in development by the same team behind the successful Mario film. Nintendo and Universal have jointly copyrighted an `untitled Donkey Kong motion picture`.
