Unexpected Return: Jar Jar Binks LEGO BrickHeadz Set Back for Prime Day Deal

The LEGO Star Wars: The Phantom Menace BrickHeadz collection is currently available on Amazon for $38, a significant drop from its original price of $55. This set stands out as one of just two official LEGO Star Wars Prime Day discounts. While Amazon`s substantial discount on the larger 1,555-piece Imperial Star Destroyer might seem more typical, the appearance of this specific BrickHeadz set in a Prime Day deal is quite peculiar.

Like most sets in the BrickHeadz line, this collection of six characters from Episode I was initially a LEGO Store exclusive. It launched last year as part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of The Phantom Menace and was officially retired by LEGO in December. Although Amazon occasionally lists retired LEGO sets, such as the R2-D2 model, those items were usually already sold out on the platform.

However, this Phantom Menace BrickHeadz set has now been effectively brought back from retirement as an Amazon-exclusive offer. Perhaps Amazon has a particular fondness for Jar Jar Binks, or maybe Jar Jar possesses an unexpected resilience that prevents him from truly disappearing.

About The Phantom Menace BrickHeadz Collection

This 732-piece set features six iconic characters from Star Wars Episode I:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Anakin Skywalker
  • Darth Maul
  • Queen Amidala
  • Captain Panaka
  • Qui-Gon Jinn

With 732 pieces divided among six figures, the average count per blocky character is around 122 pieces. Young Anakin is, as expected, smaller in size compared to the other five figures, which are approximately 2.5 inches tall.

BrickHeadz figures possess a unique, blocky aesthetic that leans more towards a cartoonish representation compared to the more realistic buildable figures found in other LEGO Star Wars collections. Nevertheless, the character designs faithfully capture details from the source material. For instance, Anakin is depicted in his racing gear from the Mos Espa Podracing Circuit, Darth Maul comes with his distinctive double-bladed red lightsaber, and Queen Amidala`s elaborate dress, hairstyle, and accessories make her figure instantly recognizable.

While Jar Jar Binks fans might hope for a larger, dedicated display model akin to the Chewbacca or C-3PO statues, the BrickHeadz version offers a fun, collectible depiction of the Gungan character for now.

While only two deals are officially highlighted as Prime Day LEGO Star Wars offers, Amazon also features many other Star Wars LEGO sets with attractive discounts. Some of these deals are due to Amazon price-matching promotions from retailers like Target and Walmart.
