Uncovering the Scoutmaster’s Location in Peak

Locating the Scoutmaster in the game Peak presents a significant challenge due to several factors. It demands patience, unconventional gameplay strategies, and, crucially, the courage to confront a formidable adversary.

To earn the Mentorship Badge achievement, players must engage in a direct encounter with the Scoutmaster. This character may be familiar to you as the author of the guidebook discovered at the beginning of each run. Below, we will outline the specific methods for finding the Scoutmaster in Peak and subsequently unlocking this badge.

Interestingly, a key hint for this achievement lies within the very first rule of the guidebook.

How to Summon the Scoutmaster in Peak

To successfully encounter the Scoutmaster and secure the Mentorship Badge achievement in Peak, it`s crucial to understand that he must first be summoned. This is not a random event; instead, specific actions must be taken to initiate his appearance.

The Scoutmaster can be made to appear in your game through two distinct approaches, contingent on whether you are playing alone or with a group online. These methods are detailed as follows:

  • For solo players, the key is to utilize the Scoutmaster`s Bugle, an exceptionally rare item found within Peak.
  • In multiplayer sessions, you must intentionally disregard Scoutmaster Myres` guidance by abandoning a teammate in distress and deliberately separating from your group.

Method 1: Solo Play (Scoutmaster`s Bugle)

Regarding the solo player method, the Scoutmaster`s Bugle is a coveted and infrequently appearing item. There`s a slight possibility of obtaining it from Ancient Luggage (identifiable by their red emblems) or by interacting with Ancient Statues located at the apex of each biome. It`s important to remember that when attempting to acquire the bugle from a statue, all team members must be alive; otherwise, the statue will prioritize reviving any incapacitated climbers instead of yielding an item.

While the Scoutmaster`s Bugle can also manifest in multiplayer games, its overall appearance rate remains exceedingly low. From my personal experience of over 26 hours in Peak, I`ve only encountered this item twice. However, it`s worth noting that on multiple occasions, statues failed to drop an item because a teammate had fallen in the biome, indicating that individual player experiences may differ significantly.

The Scoutmaster means business.

Method 2: Multiplayer Play (Intentional Separation)

In a multiplayer Peak session, summoning the Scoutmaster becomes a slightly more straightforward process. The key involves intentionally separating yourself from your cooperative partners, regardless of whether you`re with one other person or a full group. A reliable strategy to initiate this encounter is to have all other players remain at the Shore biome`s starting point, while you proceed independently towards the opposite side and begin your ascent.

Once you`ve climbed for a few minutes, you`ll notice a shift in the audio, hearing distinct music that replaces the standard environmental sounds, reminiscent of distant bells. The Scoutmaster is programmed to pursue players who isolate themselves from their team, making it highly probable he will approach you. A clear indicator of his proximity is a progressive film grain effect on your screen, which intensifies and reduces visibility as he draws nearer.

When the Scoutmaster is sufficiently close, approach him to trigger the Mentorship Badge achievement. Be aware that he might fall from a ledge, momentarily pausing the chase, but he typically recovers quickly. At this point, you have a choice: try to escape – though the Scoutmaster is notably swift – or allow him to capture you. In my own experience, the Scoutmaster successfully apprehended me and then unceremoniously hurled me from the mountain.

These are the complete steps required to encounter the Scoutmaster. Keep in mind that straying from your teammates unintentionally can also inadvertently trigger this event. It serves as a formidable and rather frightening mechanism designed to reinforce the importance of team cooperation.
