Twisted Metal Star Anthony Mackie Embraces Classic Gaming

Anthony Mackie`s Vintage Gaming Preferences Revealed

Anthony Mackie, widely recognized for his roles in the action-packed series Twisted Metal and as Captain America, holds a strong preference for classic video games, often choosing them over more contemporary titles. This insight into his gaming habits was shared during his visit to the Twisted Metal set in Toronto.

Mackie expressed a clear disinterest in modern “run and gun” style games. Instead, his gaming heart belongs to timeless arcade masterpieces like Ms. Pac-Man and The Simpsons Arcade Game. Demonstrating his passion, Mackie even recently acquired an original Simpsons Arcade Game machine, as he revealed in an August 2024 interview.

“I found a dude; he was like, `If you buy it and it breaks, I will come to your house and fix it,`” Mackie recalled, highlighting the unique service that came with his arcade purchase. He further elaborated on his love for vintage gaming: “Old games like that, I love. I`m an old pinball head. I really like old-school Atari and Nintendo games. I can`t get into the new [stuff]. I`m 45. I`m not that angry.”

Samoa Joe: A Fellow Gamer with a Familiar Predicament

The Twisted Metal series, adapted by Peacock and Sony Pictures from Sony`s popular game franchise, also features actor Samoa Joe in the role of Sweet Tooth. Joe confirmed that he has played all the Twisted Metal games, singling out 2001`s Twisted Metal Black as his favorite due to its “dark” and “cool” tone, along with its memorable music.

Like many modern gamers, Samoa Joe admitted to still actively playing video games, humorously noting that his Steam library is “way too big” and he`s nowhere near tackling his extensive backlog. He comically described his unplayed collection as “gross,” sharing an anecdote about a major publisher providing him with a code for their entire Steam catalog. He light-heartedly quipped, “I`ll get around to playing Fire Engine Simulator 4000 at some point.”

Twisted Metal Season 2 Release Date

Fans eager to watch the next installment can mark their calendars: Twisted Metal Season 2 is set to premiere on July 31, exclusively on Peacock.
