Trigun: Deluxe Manga and Anime Editions

Dark Horse`s highly acclaimed Deluxe Editions of the “Trigun” manga are currently available at significantly reduced prices on Amazon. The “Trigun Deluxe Edition,” released last September, consolidates the original two-volume series into a single, beautifully bound hardcover. This edition is temporarily offered at over 50% off its original $50 list price. Furthermore, Dark Horse recently completed its “Trigun Maximum Deluxe Edition” series with the release of its fifth and final volume last month, which is also on sale. These six matching hardcover volumes make an impressive display on any bookshelf.

The Trigun Deluxe Edition: In-Depth Look

The “Trigun” Deluxe Editions are presented in a premium hardcover format, featuring high-quality 7×10-inch pages. Each volume is distinguished by a red leatherette cover with elegant burnishing, foil-stamped lettering, and an iconic weapon illustration from the series. These substantial books also come with convenient built-in bookmarks. Spanning 704 pages, the “Trigun Deluxe Edition” is widely considered the definitive physical version of the manga.

Created by Yasuhiro Nightow, this series introduces readers to Vash the Stampede amidst the harsh landscape of a distant alien planet. “Trigun” is essentially a sci-fi western, chronicling Vash`s efforts to peacefully deter the numerous bounty hunters pursuing the colossal $60 billion reward on his head. Despite his formidable combat abilities – capable of wielding his signature weapon or unleashing destructive internal powers – Vash maintains a core philosophy of pacifism. Paradoxically, the sheer volume of those hunting him often leads to unintended devastation, earning him the infamous title, the “Humanoid Typhoon.”

Trigun Maximum: The Five-Volume Deluxe Series

As a direct continuation of the narrative, it`s advisable to read the original “Trigun” series before delving into the more extensive “Trigun Maximum.” Dark Horse initiated the release of the “Trigun Maximum Deluxe Edition” series last October, with its fifth and conclusive volume becoming available in June.

The complete set comprises five Deluxe Editions:

  • Trigun Maximum Deluxe Edition: Book 1 (encompassing Volumes 1-3, 600 pages)
  • Trigun Maximum Deluxe Edition: Book 2 (covering Volumes 6-9, 624 pages)
  • Trigun Maximum Deluxe Edition: Book 3 (featuring Volumes 7-9, 632 pages)
  • Trigun Maximum Deluxe Edition: Book 4 (the most substantial volume, collecting Volumes 10-12, 688 pages)
  • Trigun Maximum Deluxe Edition: Book 5 (compiling Volumes 13-14, 560 pages, released June 17)

In “Trigun Maximum,” Vash re-emerges after a two-year period of seclusion to confront the Gung-Ho Guns, a perilous faction of bounty hunters orchestrated by his estranged brother, Knives Millions.

Exploring the Trigun Anime Adaptations

For those seeking further immersion in the “Trigun” universe, the recently launched anime reboot, “Trigun Stampede,” is highly recommended and readily available on Blu-ray. Additionally, fans can acquire the comprehensive original series on DVD, and the acclaimed 2011 film, “Trigun: Badlands Rumble,” is also offered on Blu-ray.

From a visual standpoint, “Trigun Stampede” stands out as a premier example of Japanese anime utilizing CGI, boasting a delightful aesthetic and remarkable fluidity that sets a high standard for contemporary animation. While this iteration of “Trigun” introduces notable modifications to the established storyline, and reactions to these changes may vary, many viewers discover that these narrative adjustments surprisingly enhance the original saga.
