Today’s Game Releases: More Than Just Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong has dominated the indie gaming landscape, often compared to the highly anticipated GTA6 for its immense hype. Many developers prefer to avoid its release window, but some new titles bravely launch alongside it. This article highlights other notable games debuting today, September 4, 2025, for those seeking alternatives or simply curious about what else is available. We also look at games that wisely shifted their release dates to avoid competing with Hornet`s highly anticipated adventure.

Games Releasing September 4, 2025

Adventure of Samsara

Notably, Adventure of Samsara is a Metroidvania-style game, much like Hollow Knight, where players control a small hero wielding a sword. This title features impressive pixel art.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle `The Order of the Giants` DLC

This expansion for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle delves deeper into the `Order of Giants,` an element hinted at in the main game.

`Hell

Hell is Us

In Hell is Us, set in a world ravaged by war and a mysterious calamity, you search for answers about your own past. This is a third-person action game with Souls-like elements.

NBA 2K26

If there`s any publisher unafraid of Silksong affecting their sales, it`s likely 2K Games with their latest basketball title, NBA 2K26. There`s simply less overlap with a basketball simulation than with games like Adventure of Samsara or the Souls-inspired Hell is Us.

`Jetrunner

Jetrunner

Jetrunner is a stylish first-person parkour game characterized by flashy, cel-shaded visuals.

Additionally, other games releasing today include the Switch 2 port of Star Wars: Outlaws, Everybody`s Golf Hot Shots, and the Apple Arcade exclusive NFL Retro Bowl `26.

Games That Rescheduled to Avoid Silksong

In light of Silksong`s September 4th release, several other titles strategically postponed their launches. The sci-fi roguelite FPS, Moros Protocol, and the retro-styled roguelike survival game, Megabonk, both shifted their release dates to September 18th. Baby Steps, the successor to the challenging Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, moved to September 23rd. Demonschool also pushed its launch to September 23rd, with developer Ysbryd explaining that their priority was visibility, stating, “We have to remind ourselves that gaining visibility for Demonschool is our main goal. Thus, the Ysbryd team strongly believes we would not be doing our game any favors by wading into waters we can clearly see are blood red.”

Hollow Knight: Silksong`s Phenomenal Launch

Upon its release, Hollow Knight: Silksong garnered overwhelmingly positive reception. Its immense popularity led to immediate server issues for Steam and the Nintendo eShop, and also impacted Game Pass services. On Steam, Hollow Knight: Silksong achieved a peak of 535,000 concurrent players, placing it among the top three titles alongside Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2.

This article covers new game releases for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and iOS (iPhone/iPad).
