Nintendo`s upcoming Switch 2 console is set to become a haven for horror enthusiasts. During the September Nintendo Direct event, Capcom confirmed plans to release ports of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village on the new platform. Additionally, the highly anticipated Resident Evil 9: Requiem will also be available on the Switch 2. All three titles are scheduled for a simultaneous launch on February 27, 2026.
Resident Evil 7 marked a pivotal moment for both the franchise and Capcom after the mixed reviews and sales of Resident Evil 6. As the inaugural full-length title to employ the powerful RE Engine, Resident Evil 7 successfully revitalized the series by returning to its foundational survival-horror elements, earning widespread critical acclaim. Capcom has continued this streak of success with its well-received remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, with the Resident Evil 4 remake being lauded as one of 2023`s top video games.
The forthcoming installment, Resident Evil: Requiem, is slated for a multi-platform release on February 27, 2026, targeting PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Switch 2. This new title will introduce players to a fresh protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, and will bring them back to the iconic Raccoon City – a setting that has remained largely untouched since its devastation in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.
The September Nintendo Direct was packed with numerous announcements and trailers, highlighting many upcoming titles for Nintendo fans.
