The Witcher Season 4: Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt Revealed, Release Date Announced

Over two years have elapsed since the premiere of The Witcher Season 3 on Netflix, which also marked Henry Cavill`s final portrayal of the lead character. Now, Netflix has officially released a teaser for the highly anticipated fourth season, providing audiences with their first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. The streaming service additionally confirmed the show`s return date for October 30.

While the initial teaser offers limited glimpses of Geralt`s companions, it prominently features a battle sequence against a formidable Wraith. Defeating such a largely intangible creature presents a significant challenge, yet Geralt, in his characteristic fashion, demonstrates exceptional skill in dispatching monsters.

Specific narrative details for the upcoming season have not yet been fully disclosed. However, it is known that Geralt, Yennefer (portrayed by Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (played by Freya Allan) will commence the season separated. Each protagonist appears to be on a distinct solo journey, though their paths are almost certainly destined to converge again at a later point in the season.

Earlier in 2024, Laurence Fishburne was confirmed to join the cast of The Witcher Season 4, taking on the role of Regis, described as a “barber-surgeon with a mysterious past” who roams the world. Viewers can catch their first glimpse of Fishburne in character within the released trailer. Other new additions to the Season 4 ensemble include Sharlto Copley, James Purefoy, Danny Woodburn, Linden Porco, Eve Ridley, and Clive Russell.

Beyond the popular Netflix series, The Witcher franchise continues to flourish across various mediums. The successful concert tour celebrating the music of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt recently began its American segment. Meanwhile, developer CD Projekt Red is actively engaged in the production of The Witcher 4, which is set to be the first main game in the series to feature Ciri as the primary playable character. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red is overseeing a complete remake of the original The Witcher game, initially released in 2007, with Fool`s Theory responsible for its development under CD Projekt Red`s supervision.
