The Witcher 3’s Console Mod Support Delayed to 2026

The acclaimed role-playing game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, celebrated its tenth anniversary earlier this year. As part of this milestone, developer CD Projekt Red announced a significant final update, promising to introduce many beloved PC mods to console players. However, this highly anticipated feature, intended for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users, will not be released this year as originally planned.

CD Projekt Red has since provided an official update, expressing apologies to fans and confirming that the new release window for this cross-platform mod support is now set for 2026.

The company`s statement elaborated: “We originally planned to introduce cross-platform mod support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year, but the rollout is now shifting to 2026. We apologize for the delay and will share more details as we get closer to the release. Thank you for your patience!”

For years, PC players have enjoyed a vast and varied selection of community-created mods for The Witcher 3. While there will be some technical and content-based limitations on which modifications can be utilized by console gamers, the vast majority are expected to be freely accessible. Players will gain access to these mods once they link a mod.io account in conjunction with the upcoming update.

In other news pertaining to the expansive Witcher universe, a concert series showcasing the iconic music of The Witcher 3 commenced its US tour this summer and is scheduled to run through October. Concurrently, CD Projekt Red is actively developing The Witcher 4, although a specific release date has yet to be announced. Fans of the franchise can also anticipate the premiere of The Witcher Season 4 on Netflix, arriving on October 30. This season will see Liam Hemsworth stepping into the lead role, succeeding Henry Cavill.
