The Outer Worlds 2: Meet Your New Companions (No Romance Confirmed)

Obsidian Entertainment has shared new information regarding the companions available in The Outer Worlds 2. They explicitly confirmed that, similar to its predecessor, the game will not feature any romance options for your crewmates. This reveal offers a glimpse into the diverse personalities and abilities of the characters who will join players on their interstellar adventures.

Introducing the Six New Companions

Unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, The Outer Worlds 2 will introduce six unique companions. Each companion hails from a distinct faction and possesses a specialized skill set:

  • Niles: An engineer from the Earth Directorate, Niles demonstrates stealth capabilities, including invisibility.
  • Valerie: Also from the Earth Directorate, Valerie is a robotic companion equipped with twin turrets, ready to provide heavy firepower.
  • Aza: Originating from The Glorious Dawn, Aza embodies the role of a ruthless, bloodthirsty assassin.
  • Inez: Affiliated with Auntie`s Choice, Inez will function as your field medic, utilizing her biomedical enhancements to neutralize adversaries.
  • Marisol: From the Order of the Ascendent, Marisol is depicted in the trailer as seemingly capable of absorbing an enemy`s essence, suggesting unique combat abilities.
  • Tristan: A member of the Protectorate, Tristan wields a formidable giant hammer and appears to delight in enforcing rules and punishing transgressors.

Echoes of the First Game

Recall that in the original The Outer Worlds, players could bring up to two companions on missions. Each companion also had dedicated quest lines to complete and often expressed strong opinions regarding the player`s choices and actions, adding depth to the gameplay and narrative.

Pricing and Release Details

Microsoft recently announced a revised price for The Outer Worlds 2. The game will now cost $70, a reduction from the previously stated $80. The Outer Worlds 2 is scheduled for release on October 29 across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms.
