Konami is set to release the modernized version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, titled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, very soon. This remaster breathes new life into a game that first launched over two decades ago. Should it achieve commercial success, it could pave the way for Konami to re-examine and update other classic titles within the esteemed Metal Gear Solid franchise.
During an interview with Game Informer, Metal Gear Solid Delta producer Yuji Korekado emphasized that while their immediate priority is ensuring a flawless launch of Delta for contemporary gaming platforms, the company is open to exploring further remakes in the future, especially if fan demand is strong. Noriaki Okamura, another producer, reiterated this sentiment, stating that the team constantly evaluates potential directions for the Metal Gear series, striving to captivate both long-standing devotees and a new generation of players.
A frequently cited and highly anticipated candidate for a future remake is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which has remained exclusively available on PlayStation 3 for the past 17 years. This follows the successful 2023 release of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which brought the original trilogy to modern consoles.
Korekado and Okamura also shared their willingness to entrust the franchise to emerging creators if Konami decides to develop new Metal Gear Solid installments. Interestingly, series creator Hideo Kojima recently indicated he has no plans to play the upcoming MGS Delta. Despite this, Okamura expressed profound admiration for Kojima and voiced his hope for a potential collaboration on the MGS franchise at some point in the future.
Leading up to Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater`s launch on August 28 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Konami has revealed that Platinum Games contributed to an updated rendition of `Snake`s Nightmare,` a hidden mode from the original game. Concurrently, David Hayter, the iconic voice of Solid Snake, offered his perspective on Metal Gear Solid 5, a notable entry in the main series where he did not lend his voice to the protagonist.
