Apple had released 54 games specifically designed for the iPod`s clickwheel, titles that were on the verge of being forgotten. However, thanks to the dedicated efforts of video game preservationists, this entire collection of games has now been successfully salvaged and made available.
According to a report by Ars Technica, Olsro, the founder of the iPod Clickwheel Games Preservation Project, recently finalized the collection by successfully locating the last missing title, `Real Soccer 2009`. The preservation process involved a meticulous search for individuals who still possessed these original games downloaded on their iPods. These games were then synchronized to a Virtual Machine master library, providing other iPod owners with the opportunity to play them. Olsro shared his satisfaction, noting that the completion of this project ensures “this whole part from the early 2000s will remain with us forever.”
These preserved games, accessible via the Virtual Machine, are compatible with a range of iPod models, including the iPod Classic (5th, 5.5th, 6th, 6.5th, and 7th generations) and iPod Nano (3rd, 4th, and 5th generations). Olsro has provided comprehensive instructions on GitHub detailing how users can access and utilize this Virtual Machine. By following these steps, enthusiasts can once again experience these classic games directly on their compatible iPod devices.
