The Dark Knight Trilogy: A Stunning New 4K Steelbook Library Collection

Following the announcement of an exclusive Superman Steelbook Library Collection, Amazon has now introduced a comparable collector`s set for Christopher Nolan`s acclaimed Dark Knight Trilogy. This exquisite collection, priced at $130 and set for release on September 9, features the three films starring Christian Bale as Batman in their superb 4K UHD Blu-ray editions. It also includes a wealth of exclusive collectibles: four beautifully designed steelbook cases and an elegant metal library display case.

Pre-orders for this anticipated Batman collection, along with the Superman Library Collection, commenced on Amazon on July 22, both priced at $130. Given their exclusive nature, these sets are expected to sell out quickly. Previous Amazon-exclusive releases, such as the Sean Connery James Bond and upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street Library Collections, have seen rapid sales, especially those introducing films to 4K for the first time.

Each of the four steelbook cases within this collection masterfully reflects the artistic vision of The Dark Knight Trilogy. The covers feature striking, minimalist images of key characters encapsulated within a batarang-shaped logo. The first showcases Batman from Batman Begins, followed by Heath Ledger`s Joker from The Dark Knight, and Tom Hardy`s Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. The fourth steelbook is a golden design adorned with bat silhouettes. Additionally, the set includes several physical collectibles:

  • Lenticular art cards
  • City billboard art cards
  • Storyboards
  • The Bat Blueprint
  • Replica of The Gotham Times newspaper
  • Certificate of authenticity

All four steelbook cases are elegantly housed within a premium metal display box, known as the library case, prominently featuring the iconic Batman logo. This set appears to be an exceptional collector`s item for dedicated fans of The Dark Knight Trilogy.

This nine-disc collection comprises three 4K discs and six 1080p Blu-ray discs, which contain the majority of the bonus features, alongside digital editions accessible for download and streaming.

Regarding the on-disc content, this new collection mirrors the existing 4K standard edition, which is currently available at a discounted price of $44 (originally $75) on Amazon. However, the standard edition does not include digital versions of the films. The 4K UHD presentations of these three movies are truly outstanding, rendered in native 4K (2160p) with HDR10 support and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. This nine-disc set is an essential addition to any Batman enthusiast`s collection.

Each film boasts an extensive array of special features. Batman Begins, for instance, provides a captivating insight into Nolan`s vision of a more realistic Batman, with featurettes exploring the diverse filming locations, the creation of the iconic Batsuit and tank-like Batmobile, the casting process, and Christian Bale`s transformation for the role.

The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises are similarly packed with content, delving into the psychology of iconic villains such as the Joker and Bane, and offering a wealth of additional featurettes and behind-the-scenes material.

Those drawn to The Dark Knight Trilogy Steelbook Library Collection may also find interest in the Superman 5-Film Steelbook Library Collection. This set features all four Christopher Reeve Superman films, plus the special inclusion of the Donner Cut of Superman II, totaling five movies. This 10-disc box set also includes 4K and 1080p discs, digital copies, four unique steelbook cases, and a metal library display case. The Superman collection is scheduled for release on September 2, a week prior to The Dark Knight Trilogy set.
