Tales of Xillia`s compelling narrative centers on two main characters, Milla Maxwell and Jude Mathis. They become fugitives after inadvertently uncovering the Kingdom of Rashugal`s sinister plan to develop a weapon of mass destruction. Their quest to thwart this dangerous initiative takes them on an epic journey across the enchanted realm of Rieze Maxia. Throughout their adventure, they gather a diverse team of allies to assist in their mission. Players will navigate an expansive overworld, explore various towns and intricate dungeons, and engage in a distinctive action combat system where two party members can synchronize for devastating `Link Arte` attacks.
As the thirteenth main installment in the long-running Tales series at the time of its original release, Tales of Xillia offers a self-contained story that can be enjoyed by newcomers without prior knowledge of other titles. However, it also received a direct sequel, Tales of Xillia 2, set one year after the first game`s events. Given that several other Tales games have received remasters recently, such as Tales of Graces f Remastered earlier this year (January 17th), which also saw PS5 and Switch physical releases, and Tales of Symphonia remastered a few years ago, it seems plausible that Tales of Xillia 2 might also see a modern re-release in the near future. For those interested in the latest entries, Tales of Arise (launched in 2021) and Tales of Zestiria (launched in 2015) are also available.
