Even though James Gunn`s new Superman movie just premiered in theaters this week, pre-orders are already open for its upcoming Blu-ray release. Options include a 4K Steelbook Edition priced at $38, along with standard 4K and regular Blu-ray versions also available for pre-order.
A specific release date hasn`t been announced yet, but typically, Blu-ray releases occur about three months after a movie`s theatrical debut. This suggests a likely launch in the Fall. By pre-ordering the Superman 4K Steelbook or standard editions now, you won`t be charged until the item ships, and you`ll be guaranteed the lowest price if it fluctuates between now and the release date.
Superman (4K Steelbook)
While a release date hasn`t been confirmed, it`s expected about three months after the theatrical run, possibly in October. The steelbook cover is quite striking, featuring the entrance to Superman`s Fortress of Solitude. Inside, the artwork shows the Man of Steel walking through the crystalline structures of his secret base, a tribute to his lost homeworld.
Bonus materials for this release have not yet been revealed. However, films based on DC Comics typically include a good range of behind-the-scenes featurettes that offer insights into the movie`s production. The 2022 release of The Batman serves as a good example, packed with content exploring everything from the development of that version of Batman to the creation of his Batmobile and gadgets.
Superman standard edition
Beyond the notable 4K Steelbook Edition, you can also pre-order a standard edition of the film available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, or DVD. The final cover art for these versions is still pending, and similar to the Steelbook Edition, details on included bonus features are not yet available. Nevertheless, pre-orders are currently live.
Superman: The Art and Making of the Film Preorder
Besides the Blu-ray, another related item is available for pre-order: the upcoming book “Superman: The Art and Making of the Film,” scheduled for release on November 18. This 176-page hardcover book will feature concept art, costume and character designs, and illustrations for the movie`s various locations. It also includes interviews with director James Gunn and other key creative team members, along with a foreword written by Superman actor David Corenswet.
Pre-orders for this art book are currently available for $50.
