Sucker Punch Co-Founder Brian Fleming Exits Studio After 28 Years

Brian Fleming, co-founder of Sucker Punch Productions, is departing the studio after 28 years, having been with the company since its establishment in 1997. Regarding his subsequent professional path, Fleming admits he is currently unsure of his next career move.

Uncertainty About the Future

In a public statement posted on LinkedIn, Fleming simply confirmed his departure, stating, “I really don`t know what`s next.”

Fleming will remain at Sucker Punch until April 2026 to assist with the leadership transition process. Following his final day, he plans to dedicate time to traveling and evaluating potential opportunities. He outlined several broad options he is considering, which include remaining within the video game development sector, transitioning into broader technology fields, exploring the entertainment industry, or even engaging in advocacy or politics.

Reflecting on his long tenure, he remarked: “After 28 absolutely life-changing years at the helm of Sucker Punch, I`ve decided it`s time to shake up the snow-globe.”

New Leadership Takes Over

Effective January 1st, the roles of co-studio heads will be assumed by Jason Connell (co-creative director of Ghost of Tsushima and Yotei) and Adrian Bentley (technical director). Nate Fox will maintain his current position as co-creative director.

Fleming expressed immense confidence in his successors, stating that he is leaving Sucker Punch “in the capable hands of the strongest leadership team we`ve ever had.”

He further elaborated, believing the studio will thrive because the new leaders “are all so capable and so READY for new challenges that I have nothing but confidence the studio will continue to flourish.”

A History of Success

Sucker Punch has a rich history of successful titles. Following the release of the N64 game Rocket: Robot on Wheels in 1999, their major commercial breakthrough came with the 2002 launch of the Sly Cooper franchise. This was followed by the critically acclaimed Infamous series, which began in 2009. Sony officially acquired the studio in 2011.

The studio`s next project is the free multiplayer DLC, Ghost of Yotei: Legends, which is currently scheduled for release in 2026.
