Sony is reportedly developing a new PlayStation 5 controller, internally dubbed DualSense V3, which will feature a removable battery pack, much like Xbox controllers. This information comes from a German gaming outlet, PPE.pl.
The DualSense V3 is anticipated to launch this November, allowing users to replace the battery pack as needed, thereby extending the controller`s lifespan without requiring a full replacement. The report, initially spotted by VGC, cites Graczdari as a source, who has a history of accurate predictions regarding game announcements, including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024`s PS5 reveal and the discovery of a physical edition of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.
Should the DualSense V3 launch in November as rumored, it is expected to supersede the current PlayStation 5 controllers in retail availability.
Furthermore, the report suggests Sony is developing a slightly revised PlayStation 5 Pro console that consumes 3% less power than its standard counterpart and will include the DualSense V3. The release date for this updated PS5 Pro console remains unconfirmed.
PPE.pl has a track record of accurate reporting, previously revealing the Nintendo Switch port of Dying Light (which launched in October 2021 as predicted) and detailing that physical copies of Doom: The Dark Ages do not contain the full game.
Recent insights from Sony`s State of Play livestream on September 24 provided numerous game updates. Announcements included Team Ninja`s Nioh 3 arriving in February 2026, Housemarque`s Saros and Pearl Abyss` Crimson Desert launching in March 2026, a remaster for Deus Ex, and Insomniac Games` Marvel`s Wolverine scheduled for next fall. The upcoming year promises an exciting lineup of releases.
