Sony Releases PC Driver for PlayStation Link Headsets

Sony is finally rolling out a dedicated PC driver for its **PlayStation Link** wireless technology, which powers the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets. This significant update, expected to be fully deployed by October 2nd, will allow users to manage their devices directly from a PC, eliminating the need to connect to a PlayStation 5 for settings adjustments or firmware updates.

The new driver introduces a convenient quick menu, accessible via the system tray or by pressing the PS Link button on the device three times. This menu offers control over audio settings for both the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets. Additionally, it displays battery levels and notifies users when new firmware updates are available, streamlining device maintenance.

For firmware updates, both the audio device and the PS Link dongle can be updated directly from the PC. It`s important to note that the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets will require a direct USB connection to the PC for these updates to be applied.

**PlayStation Link** is Sony`s proprietary wireless audio standard, engineered to deliver high-quality, lossless audio with minimal latency. Distinct from standard Bluetooth, PS Link allows for a simultaneous Bluetooth connection, offering users greater flexibility. Currently, this technology is exclusive to the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets. Sony clarifies that for other wireless PS5 accessories, such as the DualSense controllers, users should continue to use the PlayStation Accessories app.

While the PS Link driver is designed to install automatically upon connecting the USB device to a PC, the rollout is gradual. If the driver does not immediately appear, Sony recommends trying again later, as the deployment phase extends until October 2nd.
