Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is fast approaching its release, and fans have a fresh opportunity to experience the game through its latest Open Network Test. This beta provides a comprehensive preview of what to expect, including its duration and available customization options.

The start and end times for the network test vary slightly by region due to timezone differences, but the test window is consistent globally.

How to Join the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Open Network Test
Participation is straightforward. Simply navigate to the digital storefront of your preferred platform—PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Steam, or Epic Games Store—and download the Open Network Test client. Preloading is already available, allowing players to jump in as soon as the test begins.
What to Expect in the Open Network Test
The test is packed with content, offering a significant preview of the full game.
Players can explore nine distinct courses, including popular tracks like Metal Harbour, Mystic Jungle, and Colorful Mall. Seven unique CrossWorlds, such as Magma Planet and Holoska, will also be available for racing adventures.
A roster of 12 characters will be playable, featuring fan favorites like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. Notably, Persona 5`s Joker will become available on August 31. The test also includes 21 vehicles across five different types and 42 gadgets to customize gameplay.
Three main game modes are featured:
- Grand Prix: A standard competition consisting of four races per cup.
- World Match: An online mode pitting you against 11 other players, where you can climb a global rank.
- Time Trials: Challenge yourself to achieve the fastest times on various tracks.
An exciting Joker Festival event is scheduled to run for 24 hours starting August 31 at 12:01 AM ET. Players will be divided into three teams, competing to earn points and exclusive Persona-themed titles. The winning team will receive a special title. It`s important to remember that save data from the network test will not transfer to the final game.
Regarding online play, a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription is not required. However, Nintendo Switch players will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access World Match and Festival modes. Cross-play functionality is enabled across all platforms for the network test.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is set to launch on September 25 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
