On March 26, 2026, coinciding with the global launch of Milestone’s new racing game, Screamer, the GAMM Museum in Rome will host a special evening event. This celebration marks the return of one of Italian video gaming’s most iconic series, 30 years after its 1995 debut. The new Screamer re-imagines the title with a refreshed look: cel-shaded anime aesthetics, a cyberpunk setting, advanced combat mechanics, and a deeper narrative inspired by 80s and 90s manga. The event, commencing at 6 PM, aims to honor both the franchise’s past and its future.
Central to the evening’s offerings will be a unique exhibition featuring 30 original works, including preliminary sketches, concept art, and final artworks. These pieces chronicle the game’s creative journey from initial ideation to its final realization. The exhibition, open until the end of April, is curated by Massimo Triulzi with the contribution of Milestone, aligning with the museum’s mission to highlight video games as contemporary artistic expression.
The program also includes a public panel discussion with the development team. They will delve into the genesis of the new Screamer, discussing the challenges of reinventing a cult title after three decades and the choice to draw inspiration from Japanese anime to redefine the arcade racing genre. Journalist Eva Carducci will moderate the session.
Alongside the video game, ‘Loss, A Screamer Story,’ an original comic drawn by Matteo De Longis, will debut, expanding the game’s narrative universe. De Longis will be present at the event to meet the public and sign an exclusive print, offering participants a unique insight into the Screamer mythology.
The evening will conclude with a DJ set by DJ LaBlonde, performing the game’s soundtrack live, transforming the event into an immersive experience of music, art, and gaming.
Admission to the event is 15 euros.
