Resident Evil Requiem Unveiled for Nintendo Switch 2 Launch

Capcom officially revealed during today`s Nintendo Direct livestream that Resident Evil Requiem, the latest installment in its iconic horror series, is scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026. This launch will be simultaneous with its availability on other major consoles and PC.

First unveiled at Summer Game Fest in June, Resident Evil Requiem takes place three decades after the infamous Raccoon City outbreak. The game introduces players to a new protagonist, FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who embarks on a perilous investigation within the abandoned Wrenwood Hotel, seeking explanations for a sequence of horrific occurrences.

Accompanying this major announcement was the confirmation that the Gold Editions of both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village will also arrive on the Switch 2 on the same date. These comprehensive editions will offer the base games along with all their respective downloadable expansions in one package, providing a complete horror experience for new players and veterans alike.

Highlights from the Nintendo Direct

The Nintendo Direct presentation itself spanned over an hour, delivering a multitude of announcements and new details for games heading to both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Notable release date confirmations included the highly anticipated sequel Hades 2, the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. The presentation concluded with the exciting reveal of a new entry in the beloved Fire Emblem franchise, titled Fortune`s Weave.

The initial twenty minutes of the Direct were dedicated to celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros. This segment highlighted various Switch 2 ports, including both Super Mario Galaxy titles, Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup at Bellabel Park, Mario Tennis Fever, and a brand-new Yoshi game called Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Furthermore, the upcoming Mario movie`s title was officially revealed as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, set to premiere in theaters in April 2026.
