While Guitar Hero itself isn`t making a return, key developers from its original team have reunited to establish a new iteration of RedOctane Games. The studio, which was originally the publisher of the Guitar Hero series, re-emerged today with a clear mission: to exclusively develop rhythm games. Simon Ebejer, known for his work as production designer on Guitar Hero 3 and World Tour, and formerly studio head at Vicarious Visions (now Blizzard Albany), is leading this new venture.
A press release confirmed that RedOctane Games has assembled a team comprising many “creators and developers who helped create and scale Guitar Hero and DJ Hero,” alongside “proven emerging development talent and community leaders from across today’s rhythm gaming space.” Notably, Charles and Kai Huang, the original founders of RedOctane Games, are also contributing to this new chapter as members of a special advisory board.
“Rhythm games transcend mere gameplay; they encapsulate feel, flow, and a deep connection to the music and to one another. RedOctane Games represents our commitment to reinvest in a genre that holds immense significance for us, simultaneously propelling it into innovative and thrilling new territories.”

RedOctane Games has yet to reveal its first project, but it has reportedly commenced production on an unannounced title, with an official announcement anticipated later this year.
