Even though Elden Ring Nightreign already incorporates some degree of randomization, a recently released PC mod offers players even greater control over randomizing their gameplay sessions.
Known as the Nightreign Randomizer and Derandomizer, this mod is the work of thefifthmatt and can be downloaded from Nexus Mods. True to its name, it provides options for both randomizing elements and a `derandomizer` function for those who prefer more predictable outcomes.
Given the existing procedural generation in Elden Ring Nightreign, the mod`s creator suggests that players might primarily notice the randomizer`s effects through variations in Night Boss encounters. The developer states, “Under the hood, it`s creating map patterns nearly from scratch and has a tremendous amount of freedom in its placements.” Future updates are planned to expand the randomization to enemies and bosses within maps, alongside more detailed placement customization options.
Compared to the standard maps, the map randomizer features three distinct preset options. One preset closely mirrors the base game`s structure. Another adds randomization to item rewards, modifies circle timing and size, and reduces the frequency of repeated camps in successive playthroughs. The third, an `extra random` option, removes certain limitations for a more unpredictable experience.
Notably, the randomizer mod is compatible with the Seamless Co-op mod, which enables two-player cooperative play – a feature absent from the base game, which currently limits multiplayer to either solo or three players. While FromSoftware has confirmed that an official two-player mode is planned for Elden Ring Nightreign, no release date has been announced. The developer`s recent efforts have focused on a bug-fix update released earlier this month, with no news yet regarding potential balance adjustments.
